Expert 1215 Austin, TX | Subject: RE: Do you sleep with your k-9's We had a routine. We let our dog sleep in our room when it was cold out. H ewoudl sleep on the floor but when I got out of bed in the morning, our lab would take my spot in the bed until my wife got up sometime later. If I hit the snooze, I would hear his tail smacking the chest of drawers while he would wait for me to get out of bed. If I dangled my hand off the edge of the bed, he would walk under my hand for head scratches. Sadly, this past Thursday cancer took him from us. It's been a couple days and I miss the big guy. |

Extreme Veteran 513 Albuquerque | Subject: RE: Do you sleep with your k-9's My dog (shepard/chow mix, ~45lbs) has always slept in my bed with me. And any boyfriends I've had must accept that. She typically curls up next to my feet at the foot of the bed, but sometimes when it's hot she'll hop down during the night to sleep on the floor where it's cooler. She's a really good foot warmer on those cold mornings. She also serves as my back-up alarm clock, as she always wakes up and wants to play and/or go outside around 6:30am. |

Regular 92 Highlands Ranch, Colorado | Subject: RE: Do you sleep with your k-9's Our beagle-lab mix must sleep wedged as closely to me as possible. If he is not able he actually pouts. The Aussie sleeps on...yes on my wife. Today after a day of skiing, my wife lie asleep on the couch and the Aussie, climbs up on the couch, over my wife and lies down on top of my wife and she doesn't even twitch. Now lets get a little honest here.....if I were do that to my wife she would punch me in the balls and tell me ......."not tonight, I'm too tired!" |

It's been a couple days and I miss the big guy. I am sorry........... We lost our Lab over three years ago and I still miss her. I'm sorry too, Mr. Bee. I hope you get another dog before long. Neither of my Goldens have been allowed to sleep in my bed at night, though that hasn't stopped them from trying. And we have often had naps together. The first one slept in his doggie bed on the floor in my room. The current version of man's best friend jumps in my bed for a snuggle at night and then departs for the bed in the guest room. Have been unable to train significant others in my life quite as well. Shouldn't never have bought a king size bed. |

Expert 1037 Portland, OR | Subject: RE: Do you sleep with your k-9's Sometimes I wish Nadie would sleep with us because I get so cold at night, and she's all sorts of hairy and warm, she is a husky after all! BUT, she doesn't particularly like the bed because of those same reasons...she gets wayyyy too warm. She actually wakes us up a lot in the middle of the night because she's so loud when she moves around to try to find a cooler spot in our room. However, I'm glad that she doesn't sleep with us too because she sheds soooo much, and I hate washing our sheets in our apartment's washers. We already have to vacuum every other day! Gotta love the little beasts... |

Elite 3972 Reno | Subject: RE: Do you sleep with your k-9's I decided we need a king bed (which will ahve to be a king storage bed so we can get rid of the dressers and get the bed In to the room....). Because Mandy the border collie herds us. She thinks we should always go to bed at the same time and get up at the same time. But, right now my husband is on a later schedule. So, in the evenings, the dog sleeps with me for about 10 minutes, and then goes downstairs and hangs out with husband. Repeat every hour or so to ensure safety of the herd through the night. In the early morning she wants to come in (we are stingy with the heat) and we have to make room, with someone getting hamburgered between spouse and dog. And she only sleeps with her head on the pillow - none of this foot of the bed thing. In the midst of this, the cat is usually sleeping on my neck. So = I need to buy this for the animals http://www.gothiccabinetcraft.com/storage-drawers-king-p-1670.html?cPath=8_81 the photo is misleading - it is really two twin bed pushed together with a king matress.
Back in my single days, Alex (rottie mix) always slept with me. Any gentlemen callers had to accept that, but they only got to make that decision after Alex decided to accept THEM. Yep - I tossed a date out because he wasn't nice to my dog. |

Pro 6767 the Alabama part of Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Do you sleep with your k-9's When we first got Nikki, we had a "no dogs on the furniture" rule, which she was really good with. Then we got Mojo, who didn't get it. Nikki would even bark at him - "Hey! Get off the furniture!". Finally we gave up on the rule, and Nikki would go on the bed, the couch, etc. She still wouldn't sleep in the bed if we were in it. Mojo did, until his ACL gave out on him. By then Nikki had died, and we had gotten Cody. Who now usually sleeps in the bed. Ironically, the only time Mojo sleeps with us now is when there is a thunderstorm. Then he wants to be right on top of our heads. All 90 pounds of him. Squirming and fretting about the storm. Very restful, especially at 2 in the morning... |

Yep. You got it right., Megtrow! While we (date and I) were sitting on the couch, Alex approached said date to see what he was about. not obnoxious crotch sniffing - he just came close. Said "date" pushed him away and said "get away, DOG". Can you say "GONE in sixty seconds"? I had another one that Alex let pass the first impression test, but later I could tell he did not approve. We would go to sleep. but by morning, Alex was in the middle of the bed, back against me. and feet against the "interlopper", who awoke realizing he had a foot on the floor to keep form gettting tossed onto the floor. just a matter of time... our dogs have better taste in men than we do, remember that! He died shortly before I married. I do just know that I believe he felt it OK to leave my wellbeing with my now husband.... Alex approved of Derreck. Edited by bootygirl 2010-01-31 11:00 PM |

Works pretty well unless he has a bad dream and starts kicking. A girl I knew grew up with one that slept with her. When he grew to full size he was so heavy that she would get pinned down under the bedcovers and had to either wait for him to get up or call for her father to get him moving. He was a great dog. 230lbs of gentle jowls. And about 3 liters per hour of drool. |

I got pneumonia and she slept in bed with me every day for two weeks. Needless to say, the groundrules were permanently revised. |

Their Border Collie/Jack Russell mix, Shadow, insists on sleeping under the covers. It's terribly cute, and she definitely warms the bed up. The worst thing is that she has the coldest, wettest nose of any dog I've ever met, and she LOVES to randomly lick your feet in the middle of the night. Crazy mutt. |

One of the dogs is so well trained that one day we tried to get her to come up (small little bet going on) and it took forever to convince her to jump up. She did just fine when she was there though, so fine that it was more then enough to convince me she belongs on the floor. I'd never get any space. |
