Comments: I was afraid that I would be more bothered by all the other swimmers than I was. What would you do differently?: Nothing. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Hard to get things on while wet. What would you do differently?: Practice. ![]() Bike
Comments: I can't seem to get the bottle in and out of the cage without losing pace. Drinking got to be "too much trouble." What would you do differently?: OK, I need to drink more all the time when I ride the bike, and make myself do it in race conditions. Think about getting a camelback. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Had to make detour to the porta-potty before the run. Should have gone again before the start. ![]() Run
Comments: I was very surprised at how good I felt throughout the run. The dreaded run wasn't exactly a pleaure, but neither was it the torture I was anticipating. NO knee or foot pain! What would you do differently?: Nothing. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Walk and light stretching. Spent a good few minutes in front of the misting fan. Drank two bottles of Cytomax and ate half a banana and half slice of bread. What limited your ability to perform faster: Fear and inexperience. I wasn't sure what to expect, and deliberately slowed myself down to a comfortable speed throughout. Event comments: This was the Best first triathlon experience I could have hoped for. I will definately be back! Last updated: 2005-06-13 12:00 AM

Got up early, around 4:15, as I wasn't sleeping anyway. Left for the event around 4:30 to arrive shortly after 5. Ate my protein bar with iced mocha on the drive and had a gel 45 minutes before start. I was told I looked very relaxed, but a peek at the heart monitor told the true tale.
I didn't really warm up, except for walking around scoping out the transitions.
