Subject: RE: Alice In Wonderland movie ...I'm interested and apprehensive. I love me the Alice books, to the extent that I have all three versions of Martin Gardner's Annotated Alice books. But I get rather distressed at some of the liberties often taken when the books are adapted to the film. It often takes a somewhat glancing view of the books, mashing up elements of the two books in a way that suggests that the director or writer has sort of heard of the Alice books, and some of the characters, and then jumbles them all together as a sort of portmanteau.
Bonus nerd points for spotting the Carrollinian reference. Extra bonus points for knowing the context. Failing to recognize either means you are more likely to have had a date at some point in your life. |
