Anyone planning to visit the T.O. bike show this weekend?  I'll probably go for a visit on Sunday check things out.

I will probably check it out but bring more fortitude with me this time.  I spent too much at the Fall show

Ohhh. I'd love to go see all the new bikes.... but I bought two new bikes in the last 6 months. If my wife even suspected I was thinking about visiting a place that sells bikes she'll pull my 'nads between the cassette and chain and spin the pedals at 100rpm.

Gonna hopefully pick up some tubes and tires.  There better be some deals!  It's sad to see my carbon clinchers all naked like that.

Stopped in today, didn't see a whole lot of deals on bikes unless you wanted something 2-3 years old.  Some deals on parts and some on clothes but not a lot of selection.  Especially with men's clothing, tonnes of womens clothing but barely any mens and even less size M.

Did manage to find some LG tri shorts at a decent price although not earth shattering.  One bonus was Triathlon magazine was there and was doing year subscriptions for $15 plus a free buyers guide.

Definetly worth it - this is when they are clearing stock to make room for next year's bikes.  Get there a bit early, and expect big crowds.

You should go if you are in the MKT for a new bike. I bought mine in the spring show with a decent discount (2009 model, but who cares). I will ride it this Sunday at the half iron Muskoka.

SO ridiculously excited for this one.
(can't wait to upgrade)
As much as I find my mountain bike (cdn tire) endearing... it's time to upgrade
Tongue out

Are there certain retailers that are better than others?
Are they willing to negotiate (offer price reduction or pedals or service offers?)?

This has nothing really to do with the bike show, but more a question about your bike. My "new" bike is a Canadian Tire road bike. I bought it and rode it for the first time at my first TAT on the weekend (my old bike was stolen only like 2 weeks before the race).

I got passed by everyone on the bike. Are the Canadian Tire bikes bad enough that I can blame it on the bike, or is it purely the fault of the operator (me)?!? Haha

I know I'll be keeping mine as a commuter bike (since no one would bother stealing it), but I'm aiming for a road bike so that i can keep up more easily and get more comfortable on tiny tires in group training rides.
Funnily enough, researching, browsing for & testing bikes has been a fun obsession this year!
I get the feeling that I'll miss it when I finally do buy a road bike.

But it really is a purchase I want to make once!
(I'm hoping it will last me a good 10 years)

A week & a half to go!!

Do they clear out helmets, computers & other related gear at the sale too?

Don't laugh at canadian tire bikes so much, I hear that Jamis is now going to be selling their bikes at Canadian Tire.

I'm just focused on ANYTHING to make the switch from a mountain bike to a road bike
I'm still keeping my Cdn Tire mountain bike as a commuter!
