I am registering for the UBC oly and I am trying to find out if you need a tribc card as well. There is no option on the ubc site to pay the day fee for it

If memory serves, when you show up on race day for check in, if you are not registered with TriBC, you pay the fee there before you get your chip.

I'm looking at the registration form right now, and there doesn't seem to be anything mentioned about needing a tribc card, or having to pay an extra fee to be able to get your chip if you don't have one.  But if you want to know for sure, I'd say call the info line at 604-822-3996.

As this will be my first oly. I was wondering what mmost of you do for nutrition for the race. I had heard liquids and gels are enough.

I personally take 1 gel 20 minutes before the swim, I have a 750 ml bottle of Gatorade on board the bike and then I have one last gel 0n the last 10 mins on the bike for the run. After the run I hit the bar for Red Stripe beer and nachos. Make sure you get the beef on though and order like three beer as service may be slow. Good luck, make sure you don;t drink Crown the night before, makes running difficult....vodka seems to be better.

But Crown is so good! What about tequila? Thanks for the help! Seeing as I don't know anyone is there a BT get together at the bar?

Its going to be my first oly just did the half marathon today and using their aid stations for gels/gatorade/water was plenty only had 2 gels for that race.  Will I need to bring my own nutrition or is their ample nutrition at aid stations on course?  I am thinking a time of 3:30 or so for me still slow.

This will be my first tri and am hoping to come in about 3:00. I was wondering the same about the stations. There was lots out there today. I came in at 1:53 which was a long way from my goal of 1:45. My legs felt like redwoods today. what time do you plan on being at the race. Being my first I have no idea about getting set up in trans and I will need to go through the bike check as well.

So whats with the wet bag thing for the race? Do I need to use it? If I wear tri shorts in the pool can I not just run shirtless to the transition area or should I just get a tri shirt and wear it in the pool. Is the path to the transition safe for bare feet. It is still two weeks away and I'm getting nervous!

Hey Neil, the nuitrition is simple - water on both the bike (Marine) and the run (turn around) I would gel on the swim start and have liquids on the bike and a bottle if needed on the run. Dude, pretty stoked to see you out for the OLY!

You will be running across a parking lot and probably across some tiny gravel.  The race is usually held much earlier in the year so the wet bag is mainly because the race is usually REALLY COLD. In May that might not be an issue... although the weather sucks right now

I did the run from the outdoor pool to T1 barefoot last year.  It's doable.  I used the wetbag to hold my glasses because I forgot my contacts.  You don't need to use it and it's one less thing to go wrong if you don't as you're relying on volunteers to give you the right one.

The transition path is totally fine to run on. It is swept, clean and...well it is fine to run on. This is my 3rd year in this race and I have found that the long run to T1 is best used getting stuff on that is easy to put on and that you NEED! ie) bike gloves, arm warmers, bike jersey. Keep in mind you're going to be wet and likely cold so keep it simple. Keep moving and get to your bike. I've goofed around so many times (well twice) with non-eccential things (last year I fought with a long sleeved Under Armor shirt (U Tube me, it is pretty funny, almost as funny as how many times the guy that filmed me got punched....especially if you watch the whole video....) Actually the You Tube video will gove you a pretty great idea of how long you have to run from the pool to the T1, keep the laughter down though!

Just got my stuff on sunday as well. Hope the weather holds out, and ya nothing mentioned about the tribc thing. I'm a little nervous. My heat isn't until 9:15 but feel like I should be there at 7 to get relaxed. I was told by them 45min is enough.
