ME!! Yeppers, I am! (Can ya kinda tell I've been stalking this thread just itching to post?)

Rockin' K 50 miles (http://www.ksultrarunners.org/rkinfo.html) in central Kansas.

It'll be my first 50 miler. I'm feeling mostly prepared especially with last month's running, but have had (what feels like) an extra long taper.

Apparently the race only has about a 50% success rate of people even starting the 2nd loop, but of those who do, most finish.

I've worked to hard and ran in too much cold/dark this winter to not go for the 2nd loop!

It was so much FUN! I don't think I've ever had so much fun running and I FELT so GOOD basically for the entire thing! That just cannot be normal Laughing. I ran basically the entire thing except walking the hills, but still only made it in with 10 SECONDS to spare for an official finish. Here's my race report. It's kind of long, but I feel I left so much of the 13 hour experience out.

I'm not running an ultra this weekend, but I'm running an aid station for the Potowatomi Trail run (50 and 100 mile runs) from 6AM Saturday morning until after noon on Sunday.  Going to be a warm one for the runners.

My turn!  Sweet H2O 50K.

First Ultra and only two real trail runs under my belt.  No idea what I've gotten myself into.  All I know is that I'm going to get wet.

I think I may be well on my way to being addicted to ultras. I think part of it though is that this might be the longest I've gone injury-free. Coming up this weekend is Free State Trail 100k (http://www.psychowyco.com/id1.html) that I signed up for before my 50 miler in case that didn't work out. The course is supposed to be much "easier" and I get a whole 17 hours to play in the dirt.

Got it done!  The MT100 had some steep climbs and technical sections.  The heat and humidity really got to me (not much humidity here in NM).  Finished in 24th place with a time of 27:12:12.  Happy with the results.

Outstanding.

27 hours is plenty of time to get that complete ultra experience.

Well done.

I'm going to muddle through a 50k tomorrow.  I tapered this week but the legs are still feeling a bit shot.  It is still going to be a fun day in the woods!

Signed up for 100 miler later in the year, which was stupid because it's way too soon after my Ironman.  We'll see what happens with all of that :-)

Pocatello 50 Mile Run this weekend!  http://pocatello50.com/

Could be interesting.  There is still too much snow up high so they had to do a snow reroute this year.

Hello everyone! I have been gone for a while. After getting back from Iraq in mid-November I pulled my bike out of the garage and rode it exclusively until this May when a buddy talked me into signing up for the Highland Sky 40 Miler in the hills of West Virginia. So I stored the bike and have been building base mileage for the ultra. Highland Sky 40 mile trail run next weekend, Saturday, June 18th. Should be interesting as I will have only been running about 7 weeks when I line up for the start! Wish me luck!

Just completed San Diego 100 miler..   it was the most beautiful, but the most brutal course i have ever seen.  Felt like what Frodo probably felt when heading to MORDOR...   and i didn't have a whiz to make it all better..  LOL..

It was epic...   race report coming soon...
