ultrahip_00 - 2010-06-28 10:47 PM I am in!  I volunteered for about 9 hours yesterday and signed up this morning!  I was at the turn at the top of english pt road (top of big hill) and lancaster on the bike course, and on 9th and pine on the run course (about .75 miles from the finish on 2nd lap).

great job to everyone who raced this year, and I'm looking forward to racing w/you next year!

Where you the guy at the hcip mat turn around for mile 90ish?   Both times i got to that point I had to unclip because it was such a tight turn and I didn't want to wipe out.  On my 2nd loop I told someone "I haven't mastered this turn yet"- was that you I said that to??

FUNNY!   I told them both times that that hairpin turnaround was the toughest part of the course!  ....and I was only partly kidding!!

At least it was easy to see coming up.  That fast downhill in the Hayden area that takes you into the near 180 degree switchback is pretty dangerous.  I'm glad I drove it first.

I was SUPPOSED to be working that turn, I think - but due to the road closures etc, i wasn't.  Volunteering was fun, and I hope 2011 has as nice of weather as this year did!

If you would have asked me on Monday after the race, no.  But 5 days later I am thinking what I am going to do now...  Might as well sign up for CDA again!  Now I just have to break the news to my wife... LOL!

If your name weren't runnergirl I'd have bet you said it to me ... I rode it the second loop with a woman who unclipped (the outside foot, which seemed weird) and said the same thing to me, and when she said she was getting better at it I jokingly suggested she do a third loop.  She said she'd rather do a third loop on the bike than start running.

Hmmm...my response to doing a 3rd bike lap would have been "Hell no!  I'd rather run"    Too funny though.  Those turns were pretty darn tight- except the SN turn- it was so wide that it made turning very easy.

I'm in for shot #2 at this sucka!! Signed up the morning after this year's race. Hopefully I can do this one with some real run base and no issues with toenails loosening up, lol. I can't see me ever missing this race. I love CdA (truth be told, I love it so much I'm already scheming on how I can possibly escape SoCal in the next couple of years and move up there). It will be IM #3 for me....happy training everyone!-John

All, IMCdA  will be my first IM and was wanting anyone's opinion on which training program to go with: Bronze, Siver or Gold?  Also, since CdA is a year out would you recommend doing the 20 week program twice?  Thanks for any advice!!!
Thanks...Lunger

Looks like we have a great crew growing here!! I went out on a good bike ride yesterday and hit some hills that I would've cursed in the past--this time I just looked at them and said "good practice."  We should start our "Official" IM thread soon.

I am signed up!  A BT newbie (I used to surf TNO) I raced IMCDA in 04/05 and then my wife started having kids and I am just now making another go at the race.  Trying to figure out a training plan and not get too worked up about it right now

I met you (and I think your wife) back in 2004 at a TNO IMCDA breakfast.  Welcome to BT.

I remember!  I was laughing that this past trip to watch I think is the first one we didn't eat at Michael D's.  TNO seems dead, Slowtwich peeps too fast, so I guess I landed here.  She might race in 2012, we are going to see if we are still married after one of us trains for the race

Good luck everyone!!! This race is awesome!! Wish I could do it again. Ive used the free 20 week BT program the last two years and it worked great. I did add some bike volume, hut I wanted to "race" it this year. Its a great plan to get you through and feeling great at the finish line.

Contemplating a third run at this one....  CDA, St George or TX??   Just think it will be hard to beat the scenery and friendliness of CDA......  but I have not pulled the trigger yet!!

No doubt I will do CDA again.  Can't beat the organization, crowd support and amount of spectators.  It's by far a top notch IM event!

Still on the fence. Have some friends doing Racine 70.3 this weekend and then deciding if we all want to go to TX or CDA next year. I am heavily leaning towards CDA but just found out my postponed U2 concert from last month just got rescheduled for June 26, 2011 Yell

Why does CDA jinx me. I was signed up two years ago and my best friend scheduled his wedding on that day and I was the best man.

Good luck if TX is even still open after this weekend. There were less than 200 slots a couple of days ago, and that was put out on here and ST, so I'd be surprised if it is open much longer. Everyone I knew who was on the fence with TX registered when they heard the news, it's closing fast...

Yeah, I just read that too. I was really game for TX, cause I don't mind the heat, but my wife is  a teacher and can't take personal days after May 1 so it would have to be  a solo trip or find a friend who could go with.

I'm in too for my first IM!!  Figured this is the time to do it as I am currently deployed overseas with nothing to focus on but work and working out.  Good thing as I have a long ways to go before I can tackle this one!!
