Who's doing this race?  I'm in.  Kind of looking forward to it.  I've never been to Waco.  It looks like the venue along the river should be nice.

I'm probably signing up for the Oly, I know the course because I run in Waco when I'm working in there and have to stay overnight. This race used to be a Texas classic, even Lance did it and won it a few times in the past. The course is flat on the bike and a little hot and hilly for the run part.

I've heard the run is a little hilly.  I'll probably ride the run course on Saturday.

Yeah, the middle part of the run does have some pretty decent hills to make your legs burn, the nice part is you turn around and get to go down them and then it pretty much flattens out with a fun finish over the suspension bridge.  The bike was nice and fast last year.

I'll be there for the Olympic agian this year.  Brit's course description is spot on.  Water was very nice last year - not what I was expecting from the Brazos.  Wife is doing the sprint - her first race since the baby in March.

Quick question about hotels in the area.  I have heard that the Hilton is across the street from the transition area.  Can anyone confirm?

Yes, if you stay at the Hilton, you could roll out of bed and be in transition. Literally.

The Hilton is the host hotel.  Packet pickup is at the Hilton.  We're staying there.

Are they requiring a bike inspection again this year?

About the swim...  I have heard it is "clear"; meaning you can see more than 6".  How clear is it and what is the water depth.  Im just curious if you can see the bottom, considering it is a river...

Umm, if by clear, you mean brown then YES it is clear.  If by seeing the bottom you mean being able to see your hand and maybe the bubbles of someone in front of you, then YES.  Otherwise...no, not clear! Normal TX brown.

Thanks for the hotel info.  Ended up booking about three miles away at the Hampton Inn.  The Hilton didn't have any non smoking rooms available.  So, $40 bucks cheaper at the Hampton Inn wasn't so bad.

Looking forward to the race, gonna be hot hot hot.

Seeing a poster for this race last year got me wanting to do a Tri, I live in Waco while my wife goes to Baylor.

I won't be racing but will be on the bridge watching and cheering!

Training up to do my first, figure I am about 5 to 6 months out until I try my first Sprint. I'm new here and still feeling my way around.

Good luck all!

Spectating a race is a great way to learn more about it and figure out how things work.  Glad to hear you're taking an interest in traithlon!  My wife went to Baylor as well (we now live in Austin) so she always likes to go back and visit and this race is a good excuse.

Thanks.  You might want to volunteer at an aid station or whevere they need you.  I've volunteered at many races.  It's a lot of fun and you get a different perspective on the race.
