The news this morning is showing them installing new air bladders. Said it will take 2 weeks to install. Goal is refill lake by Nov 1st.

See...the news is good for something. I knew that someday my job would benefit someone.
Were you filming that segment? It was your channel I was watching.

No...I was sleeping. Don't work the mornings. I need my beauty sleep. Seriously...I NEED my beauty sleep. Have you seen pictures of me? Sleep really isn't helping. These are the shortest sentences ever. Stop me!

Well, I feel like a complete jack a$$ for registering early on this one.. So for those of you who have already dropped your $210, are you holding off till next year or doing the Duo?? It's just not the same man.. Something about getting out of the water and jumping on that bike is what hooked me in the 1st place.. Duo, ppfff....

If your talking SOMA I am holding off for next year. I was going to go do the DU and be ok with it but hell, they gave the option so I took it. So now I am registered for the Mt Lemmon marathon now instead. I think the lack of water made me crazy

My bad, yeah the SOMA.. Yeah, it sucks man, I was in a zone preping for this one. I wanted the HIM under my belt before 2011. It would have been my 1st. Oh well, happens. Man, I wish Red Rock would chalk it up as a loss and refund the cash to everyone. I can use the funds for the Mt Lemmon Half and the Tour De Tucson. Well, I am still waiting to hear back from RR to see what they can do for me. Yeah, I agree! It just wouldn't feel the same without water.. It's like a cheese pizza, missing something, haha.

I don't blame them for not refunding. I am actually pretty amazed that they offered the defer until next year. I almost felt guilty about it. But, if your really wanting to do a HIM and have the funds there are a few in Vegas. Some look really good.

I think RR was very generous in doing the 100% rollover. It has been a tough year for RR and they have rolled with the punches. Just keep your heads up, the odds of more bad things happening is very small.

If you want a HIM, and you're already well into your training, there are still slots for Ironman 70.3 in Austin Texas available (last I checked).

The Longhorn 70,3 is an awesome race and Austin is a great place to recover afterwards!

I will second that. Not that I have been there, but it's run by Keith Jordan and his events are amazing. I did both his Mooseman and Timberman 1/2 IMs that he runs in New Hampshire. You won't find a better race director. He pops into this forum occasionally too, his BT name is "KEJ"

I'll chime in as well and add that the Longhorn is indeed an awesome race. I've been wanting to go back and do this one. It was my first 70.3 and a great experience. And they had GIANT burritos at the finish line! Yum!

Thanks for all your feedback people, I really appreciate that. The HIM is Vegas looked very intriguing to me. However, after some time to think and time to get over my little pitty party LOL, I am going with the MLM here in my home town.. This will be my 1st 26.2. I haven't done a Mary yet because I fear them. Well, why not break that frear by tapping the biggest one in the back and yellin' "let's do this!" So, to all of you signed up for the half or full, see you all at the top Oct 17th..

From azcentral.com

Three of the four bladders that make up the Tempe Town Lake dam are set to be lowered into place Thursday morning.

Each bladder weighs 40 tons and is 240 feet long. They'll be lowered separately by a 230-ton crane and should take a few hours to be placed.

// ('ArticleFlex_1')//

But they won't be fully installed for another two weeks per bladder. That's because the bladders need to be unrolled and anchored, and air piping will have to be installed.

The fourth bladder will arrive in October.

The dam burst the night of July 20, emptying the 977 million gallons of water out of the urban lake and down the Salt River channel through Phoenix and beyond.

Because of Tuesday night's storms, there will be a delay of several days in the scheduled Thursday delivery of the three new Tempe Town Lake bladders.
...
Baxter-Ging said the city and the construction company had anticipated monsoon rain and that it will not delay the overall construction of the new dam. Town Lake is still scheduled to open on Nov. 1.

The "Hooner" reported this am on channel 10(sorry phxphotog) that officials were saying it might be up a month earlier than previously anticipated?
