First tri ever in the morning, 800 swim, 20 mile bike, 3 mile run.  Cross your fingers.

I have seen a list on here of desirable items to take, but can't find it.

So far I have:

Tri-top and bottom
Goggles
Swim Cap (to be given in packet)
Towels

Bike Shoes
Bike Helmet
Water bottles for bike
Pump

Run Shoes
Race belt

Clif bars (never tried GU or the like, don't want to risk it during the race)
Sunglasses
Sunscreen
Flops, t-shirt and shorts for before and after

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Click on "Race Log" near the top of any page.  There is a button for Race Day Checklist near the bottom of your race log.

Have a great race!

There is a great checklist built here on BT. I used it quite a bit, and used it as the base of the one I now routinely use: http://www.coachtj.com/wp-content/2007/07/race-checklist.html

I've found johnson's baby shampoo to be the best defogger for goggles. You just never know when you'll need electrical tape - plugging bar ends, taping gu to your top tube, I have a couple of strips wrapped on my bike in the event I need it for something during the race too.

Thanks for telling me that, now I don't have to buy any defogger!

Make sure it is tears free. Smear it in really well, then lightly rinse it out and let it air dry. The concept is to have something that reduces surface tension in water - water can't pool up then.

ugh!  I looked all over for the customized BT list a few days ago and couldn't find it!!  That's why I forgot my flip flops!  It wasn't the end of the world, but they certainly would have come in handy! lol!

Well the first one is down.  Had a great time.  Unfortunately I did leave my legs out on the bike course somewhere, struggled through the run or walk I probably should call most of it.

The defogger idea will definitely go with me next time as I couldn't see the second 400 m.

Ready for the next, after a little more training of course.

tgrunnin,  seriously now - how was it?  I have my first in 2 weeks - I'm petrified!  Did you do any warm up before entering the pool?  I have a fear of being so excited I can't catch my breath on the first lap...

No warmup, it was in a lake the temp of bath water.  I'm not the strongest swimmer so I felt I needed to reserve everything for the acutal swim.
