Sunny
Total Time = 1h 53m 31s
Overall Rank = 95/325
Age Group = F50-59F
Age Group Rank = 1/
Pre-race routine:

walked the dog , 1/2 cup coffee & a piece of cinn toast, few bites of yogurt & fruit, drove to the site- snagged a spot in the closest parking lot just before they filled up...
Event warmup:

biked 1/2 the run course -more to remember it than anything else..
Swim
  • 21m 14s
  • 1320 yards
  • 01m 37s / 100 yards
Comments:

goggles fogged so not seeing much (but they didn't leak so that was good), lost my timing chip early in..got swam over while diving down to retreive the silly thing...couldn't fasten it while swimming so just held the damn thing in my hand the whole rest of the swim....never got into much of a rhythm , threw in breast stroke a lot..another 'survival" swim..water was warm & conditions great tho!
What would you do differently?:

LEARN TO SWIM for technique & speed instead of survival,,,have better goggles & not lose chip
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

t1 & 2 included in bike times..t1 had to refasten chip, transition on the beach sand so not very fast -fortunately didn't get so much sand in cleats that couldn't clip in...but sandy feet..however transition very close so not a lot of time wasted to get in & out of it.
What would you do differently?:

maybe break down & bring a bucket of water to was off feet for this one
Bike
  • 55m 48s
  • 15 miles
  • 16.13 mile/hr
Comments:

this is a challenging tough hilly course over mixed roads-some good some rough with patches & cracks, open to traffic with not much shoulder..minimal turns tho, and well volunteered..
What would you do differently?:

just keep getting stronger on the steep hills to keep speed up without so much effort that need recovery after..remember nutrition on bike
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

included in bike..went pretty well
Run
  • 36m 30s
  • 4.2 miles
  • 08m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

tough start..the steep hill gets you started off at a snails pace so hard to find a good pace once you get up that first killer hill
Post race
Warm down:

walk around aimlessly, water, cheer a few in, hang out & chat..wait for times & awards..fresh peaches & apple juice

Event comments:

personal favorite-sentimental value -small & tough no frills...beautiful part of the world

Sweet!  Congrates.  You deserve this.  You rocked the swim carrying a chip, not to say retrieving it.   Aimlessly wandering around is a good way to describe how I feel after half my races.

nice race.  wish I had known you were doing it, as I had to get to the end of Forest Rd right in the middle of the race.  Was wondering if you were there!
