Yes, kids should never have to endure carp like this.

Many positive thoughts going out to your granddaughter.

Thank you everyone for your messages, PMs and offers of prayers and good wishes.  My husband and I have been with our daughter and Peyton over the weekend.  Everyone is coping well so far but of course the hardest days are yet to come.  As expected Peyton is her usual cheery self.  She has a large extended family supporting her through all of this.
Again I thank the BT family for your support...  it is very much appreciated.

I'm so sorry for and that beautiful little girl.  Be strong and know that even people that don't know you are sending their best thoughts your way.  Gotta go hug my son now.

Peyton had her surgery on Sept. 8 and has done really well.  Came home on Friday.  She has a temporary prosthetic eye and will be fitted for a permanent one in about 6 weeks, still has some swelling and is needing tylenol a couple times a day for pain.  Most of the time she is her usual cheery little self.
This picture is 3 days after surgery.

Peyton 3 days after surgery

thank you to everyone for your posts here and PMs and your support over the past week.

Glad the surgery went well.  Watching kids go through this kind of adversity is a good lesson to all of us on how to handle adversity.  They tend to hand it so well.

Subject: Update on Peyton's recovery
As you may remember my granddaughter Peyton had surgery on Sept. 8 to remove her left eye when a large retinal tumor was discovered.  On Oct. 13 she had a bone marrow biopsy and lumbar puncture done and we got the news on Friday that they found no sign of cancer from either of those tests.  She will now be on a surveillance program for the next 5 years which will require an MRI and eye examination every 3 months.  On Nov. 10 she goes for her first appt. with the occularist to be fitted for her permanent prosthetic eye (she currently has the temporary one they put in on the day of her surgery).  All good news for Peyton.
The next big event in her life will be her 2nd birthday on Nov. 5.

What a gorgeous, brave little girl! I am so happy you reported back and that things are going well. I prayed for her and your family then.

It's also just so important that as much information gets out as possible regarding conditions that might not get easily caught or diagnosed. Thank you!

That's wonderful.  It tears at my heart when something happens to children, especially toddlers.  But then I think they are more resiliant than we think.

Thank you for the update.  Your grand daughter is about the same age as my younger son and it breaks my heart to hear such stories. I am so glad to hear that she has the all clear for now.  I will send many positive vibes in the hope that the next five years go quickly and without incident.
