No theme, that makes it hard so I'm going to go with FLAMING PROJECTILES! Plus I don't have much on my work computer

Categories would be easier.  Can I post the same pic later if a suitable category comes up?  Can we split into professional and amateur categories. I agree Monday would be the better day to end voting.

Fantastic.

Don't take any offense, but in post processing and, if so, what?  I don't mean to imply anything by it, i'd just be interested in techniques on such a stunning image.  And, if basically out of the camera, impressed by the work itself

None taken! Post processing is what I'm good at, but to be honest not much was done to that photo. Only bad part is that it was taken with a small fairly cheap camera. Woke up at 5am to see that, and my SLR was in my bag somewhere in the car half a mile away. Oh well!

Basically just lowered the levels a bit and added some more contrast.

Top is the original, bottom is modified.

really excellent.  Probably better you didn't have the SLR, you might have overthought it rather than simply snapping it.  And nice post work as well (the only thing that bothers me is the lake edge isn't level).  Sometimes people do too much in photoshop and just ruin a pic.

Woops, I've fixed the lake before(it's just barely not level), guess not in that one! That's where the SLR and tripod come in handy.

Thanks for my new desktop background!  Was that from the commuter ferry?  I've got some cell phone pics from the ferry that I used to be proud of.

I shoot RAW + jpg. Sometimes a client wants to see the images right away and may not have a RAW file converter so the jpg file allows for easy/quick viewing.

alright all, i'm going to start a thread with the first weeks contest in it, along with the rules as i think they'll work now.
That will give a few extra days for the first round.

As we go along, as always this is a work in progress and any/all thoughts on what can be done to make this work better are welcome.

thanks!

All these photographic terms and editing are way beyond me.

I took mine on my iphone.

Job done.

And the sea is not level because I couldn't see a thing on the screen cos it was so bright so I just guessed that I had what I wanted in the shot.
