Pre-race routine:

Got a good spot in transition early. The usual setting up and socializing
Swim
  • 16m 3s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 08s / 100 meters
Comments:

I got so stuck in a mob at the start and couldn't get out. I am sure I can handle an IM swim now b/c I was stuck for a long time and it didn't bother me
What would you do differently?:

Don't think that b/c I am the slowest swimmer in ironstride that I am the slowest in a race and GET TO THE FRONT at the start
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

LONG run from beach to T1 about 500m and then the same up to bike mount/dismount.

Bike
  • 1h 04m 10s
  • 30 kms
  • 28.05 km/hr
Comments:

I could have worked a little harder. Was chasing the girl who eventually beat me by 1 second. Figured she could blow herself up on the bike and I could run her down which worked but I was too nice
Actual bike ave speed was 31.
6 which I was happy with
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

There was a narrow barricaded off area right before the bike dismount that somehow a tri a try person got in between me and my competition and I could not get by..arrrrgh. She got ahead then
Run
  • 22m 40s
  • 5 kms
  • 04m 32s  min/km
Comments:

Well I didn't have the killer edge in me today b/c I was perfectly capable of running that girl down but I did not and came in one second behind her.
I was having a good time and she had a gang of people cheering her on and she was from Ottawa so hey, why not. I just didn't care
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Congestion in swim and T2
Me not having a killer competitive mindset today. Did that in my 3 other races

Event comments:

Timing chip results said I was 3/10 AG.
No hardware for me as the race company insisted I was 4th.

Nice job Jen.  Somersault really needs to get it's act together.  I did the half iron there a couple years ago and got an email a month later saying the run was 1.2 km short.  They've been doing this for a while, you would think they could a least measure the course accurately.
OR you ran really fast in the race!!  Let's go with that.  Either way your season was awesome and congrats on 3rd place at the race.
