Subject: RE: 2011 Cranberry? Here's the email from this morning: As many of you are aware, Hurricane Irene threatens to arrive in Massachusetts this weekend so I wanted to provide an update on how we will communicate any changes to this weekend's Cranberry Trifest races made necessary due to the weather. At this time, it appears wind and rain related to the hurricane may begin Saturday afternoon. We will proceed with Sunday's race if the forecast is for light or moderate rain, but if the forecast calls for more severe weather dictating event cancellation or course changes we will communicate this news with an email to all registered athletes, a post to the Sun Multisport Events Facebook fan page and with an update to the Cranberry Trifest section of the Sun Multisport Events website. We understand many of you have travel and hotel plans to consider and we want to give you as much advance notice as possible regarding any changes, but at the same time we don't want to make any decisions prematurely. As a result, we don't expect to make any decisions about Sunday's race based on the weather until Saturday afternoon. Presently, it doesn't look like Saturday's races will be affected by the weather. If the weather forecast changes and suggests hazardous conditions affecting Saturday's races our communication plan is the same... registered athletes will be notified by email and updates will be posted to our Facebook fan page and to the Sun Multisport Events website. Any changes, if necessary, will be communicated Friday afternoon. No news is good news. If you don't hear from us you should assume all races for this weekend will proceed as scheduled.
