I am contemplating doing either the half-iron or the full aquabike at Cedar Point as well. Last big race before my IMFL in November.  For me it is either Redman or Cedar Point, really just down to the decision as to whether I want to fly with the bike...

kenb321 - 2011-01-19 12:19 PM The course preview days for Rev3 Cedar Point will be July 23 and August 20.  We will have a swim clinic, bike ride of about 50 or 100 miles on the actual Cedar Point Course, and a short run course.

Last year, we had approximately 120- 150 people at both days.  They were great!

More details to follow as the dates get closer!

The Cleveland Tri club ride I attended was great!  A group of us made the trip from Metro Detroit.  It was great to have a course leader and sweeper on the ride.  I always preride a course if I'm able, and went on to have a VERY good race.  Thanks to the CTC for pulling it all together!!!!

Bonus at Cedar Pointe...if you are into rollercoasters, the park lets you ride on Friday for like 15 bucks, and was some of my teammates favorite part about the race...doing interval runs from rollercoaster to rollercoaster on Friday! LOL!

It looks like a totally different course than last year.  What is the terrain like in that area?  I plan to scout the bike and run course the Friday before the race but does anyone know is it generally hilly or pretty flat?

Lets hope the majority of the swim is with the current in the river

FYI Rev3 has updated maps for the OlyRev and HalfRev courses for Knoxville.  They used MapMyTri.com which gives pretty good elevation info as well as a Google flyover.

Did this race last year as my first HIM.  The swim course was awesome.  I don't remember any current, and barely any bumping or violence.  Water was chilly but warmed up nicely with wetsuit.  I called the race organizers several times before the event and they had planned to close the upstream spillways the day prior to and of the race.  That eliminated most of the current.  They did allow practice swims the day prior to race.

Bike was very hilly but fun.  Only a couple prolonged climbs.  Quads were hurting a bit on the run from this for sure.  The run was nice, with most along the greenway with quite a bit of shade.  I remember hating the sun on the sections leaving and returning to transition and the finish near Neyland stadium though.  Thought that Rev3 made a very fun well staffed race.  The aid stations were well stocked with good eats/nice people.  Finish line was not too far from transition as well.

Out of town for this event this year, otherwise would be back in a minute.

For me this seems like the perfect complement to IMCDA. Glad I passed on Gulf Coast for it even with some suffering. Macon might have been nice too, but this was timed better.
