Total Time = 1h 26m 46s
Overall Rank = 64/84
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 6/8
Pre-race routine:

not much of a routine, as it was my first race. had bowl cereal fro bkft, got to the race approx. 1 1/2 ahead. geordie came to drop me off and get bike set up and ready to go then he went to get kids.
Event warmup:

went for a 10 min. run, and bit of stretch. seemed to be in the h2o for a long time, didn't feel very warmed up at that point.
Swim
  • 12m 40s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 32s / 100 meters
Comments:

had trouble going to first bout, was aiming at the wrong one, had a crazy woman weaving back and forth on way back from last bouy so i gave up and just did breast stroke for a while, also felt like i had to looked up often.
What would you do differently?:

i would like to be more confident, be able to keep my head down longer and swim straight, be able to sight wothout have to stop and breast stroke to get bearings. overall swim: good for me
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

i think i was very slow in the transition area, maybe 4 minutes, it took a while to get my socks and shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

just be faster, no socks maybe.
Bike
  • 44m 53s
  • 20 kms
  • 26.74 km/hr
Comments:

i thought i worked pretty hard on this portion, seemed to pass a few people, felt good, bike computer said i averaged 30km/hr, not like on race results...i think that time includes the transition time...so that should slow things down
What would you do differently?:

just keep pushing, up and down
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

didn't feel so long in transition this time but don't know how long i was there???
What would you do differently?:

hurry, hurry, hurry
Run
  • 29m 14s
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 51s  min/km
Comments:

i felt very tired during the run, i felt slow and heavy
What would you do differently?:

train better to do better and feel better
Post race
Warm down:

non-existent, had geordie and kids and some friends there just happy to be done and completed, drank lots of water and ate fruit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

i trained to complete the tri and that is what i did so i am happy with the results. i look forward to improving on my times in the futur.

Event comments:

Best race so far...only race so far. I look forward to next year.

Nice race Joan, nice pictures too! I'm impressed with how you can find the time to train with 2 small kids, that's no easy task! Congrats on becoming a TRIATHLETE!!
