Have any you folks done this beast?  It sounds pretty frickin' awesome.

I'm having a hard time getting my mind around the logistics of doing 4 races (1 super sprint, 2 oly's, and a HIM) in 3 days.
Any thoughts?

Hey manMe and a buddy are likely to be there! It is supposed to be a grizzly bear of a weekend and the training will be tough too.

This link is BT's information.  It notes which BT members that did the race and then wrote a race report in the past 3 - 5 years -

Check it out.

ironeric2010 - 2010-11-16 12:36 AM Any thoughts?

yeah..train for hills (edit..don't know about the NC venue though)

I did Triple T Ohio this year but my race reports are skimpy.

Hills.  Train for hills..bike and run.  And after you're done training for hills, start training for hills....good luck

Triple "F" corrected me - I had the Ohio Triple T and he has the correct North Carolina information.
Thanks, Triple "F".

The White Lake venue for the NC TTT is an awesome venue.  Perfectly clear water and flat course for the bike and run.  Some wind on the bike, but very little traffic in that area of the state.  Pavement is average to good condition.

What sort of training did you do leading up this?  Just a crap load of High-Intensity stuff or more HIM training?
When you do this race, how do you pace yourself on the 1st,2nd, and 3rd race so that you don't blow up on the big one at the end?

Not doing the Triple T, although it does sound like fun, but I am doing both of the new Rev3 races in Anderson, SC next year.

OLY is Oct 8.
Half is Oct 9.

I think I will try 2 in 2 days before stepping up to 4 in 3.

Doing it! David tri's and I are doing it. (The Ohio one)
Can't wait!
We spectated last year and I did the HIM only. (Called Little Smokies)
The HIM was absolutely brutal. The hills were just insane on the bike, but I felt really good about getting through them and shifting smart and all that. Then I hit the hills on the run and realized I was already completely cashed. Naturally I had to do the whole thing this year!

Most people seemed to have trouble getting enough fuel and sleep in between the races. Other than that, I have no tips, except have your race gear REALLY organized, because it's not like you have 3-4 days after the race to sort and clean your gear. On Saturday, it's more like a couple hours.

I'm looking at signing up for the OH one in May, anyone have insight on a cheap place to crash? Camping is considered.

They have cabins and lodges, but these may already be filled. I'm not a camper, but many people do it. I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Portsmouth, about a 15 minute ride to the race.

There is a campground there. It's a mile or so from the transition area. Shawnee State Park, I believe. Last year there was an incredible downpour on Friday night. I felt really bad for the Triple T folks who were tent camping. Not bad enough to invite them into my RV, though. :-)
We saw a lot of camping gear hanging in the trees to dry the next day.

Had to respond to this...if you have any desire to do the triple -t, do it! It's an experience you won't forget. I think I felt an even greater sense of accomplishment after this event than my Ironman. Be prepared for a range of weather conditions including really cold water and hills on the bike AND run. Oh and don't tent camp if you can avoid it. It seemed convenient at the time, but until they give some sort of time handicap for surviving severe thunderstorms and leaking tents, it's probably not worth it!

I plan on signing up for the Ohio Triple T and I'm also racing IMLP.  I plan to use the entire weekend as practice for LP: hills, nutrition, recovery, etc

I plan to go easy for each race to better simulate IM intensity.  How advisable is it to do this?  I ride with a powermeter so for most IM intensity is about 65-75%.  I'd like to go more conservatively at about 65% on the bike.  Good idea or bad?  As for the swim and the run, the easier the better to simulate what IM will be like.

Just signed up for Ohio May 2011! Hopefully not regretting it.  It will be challenging to say the least.

For past TTT racers...just about how cold and miserable is the swim?  I see it is time trial start from the beach...so you run into the water or are you jumping off a dock or something?

Also, want to get opinions on riding tri-bike or road bike due to the hills?

Any other tips/suggestions welcome...
