Can I still be a Mad Manatee...even after being awol for months and months and months?!?!

I've completely slacked on the training and the numbers on the scale prove it!

I need my mojo back...and a little nice weather wouldn't hurt

YES!!

Great to hear from you Carla! I saw some mojo just the other day and wondering who it belonged to.

crystalashworth - 2011-03-25 3:51 PM Crap...now I'm thinking Iron Girl Lake Tahoe in September!  It can be part of a vacation and I can visit my dad.  hehe

Last year was the first year they did the tri there. I met the race director here in San Diego at the Iron Girl 10K and she offered to comp the race for me. They were concerned about having enough people. It IS very well-run. Good goodie bags, and lots of pro-female rah-rah energy, which can only be good. Go for it!

Awesome - I'll have to look into it for sure!

And welcome back Carla!

Apparently we manatees like to take sabbaticals from time to time:

I too dropped off for a little while until about the last few weeks before my triathlon - but we just have to swim back in when we can!

Well - learned a lesson yesterday.  Tried to eat well, but did not drink enough.  Did my 45 minutes on the bike - pushed a little more than usual, then tried to do 15 minute run.  Managed 5 minutes at 7mpn, then BONK.  Got tight chestm, and could not catch my breath.  Stopped a little and tried again - no go.  Ended up stopping and eating a bunch.  Still lost 1 lb yesterday, so screwed something up.

Forced rest day today and will try some tomorrow.

Heh, great little find!

There's apparently a gazillion manatees (dugongs) swimming around my peninsula. I've seen every kind of aquatic life under the sun, apparently, except for those. The elusive manatee!

Maybe I'm Mad Manatee enough for one vicinity at a time ...

Ummm ... I think I've had a forced rest year and season so far glad you are continuing to sort your nutrition/hydration out! Yep, sometimes it's the hard lessons ...

I made a 30-minute walk today. I'd call it a walk-ish. But I'm learning to revel in what I CAN do instead of futz around about what I can't. 'Cause, apparently, that doesn't make me more able to do it ... heh.

Hey - anyone have an excel file that I could use to cut and past my next several months of training plan in to upload?  I'd like to try that instead of doing it day by day like last time.

Tried to use one of the files on the site and it did not quite work.

Thx,

This is Don Fink's Competitive Plan ... sorry, no Excel file for the Intermediate. I don't know that it's going to work any better than what you had (that might have been what you had), but here it is.

I'll give it a shot.  I've been following the competitive plan - not a whole lot different other than some more brick sessions and I believe 1 more swim each week.  Easy enought to modify.

Thanks bunches!

Hey All!!  I just got the book, The Time-Crunched Triathlete.  I haven't read it yet but am going to during spring break.  Now that I have this new job, I'm working more hours.  I like my job, but I've had to re-think my whole training plan.  It has been so difficult to double on workouts.  I basically get in a workout when I get a moment after work.  I can get up at 4ish in the morning to swim but that is going to take some major DISCIPLINE, lol.  4am seems freakish early.

Sooo, I got this book thinking I need some tips, motivation, ideas, thoughts, plans....you get the picture.   Has anyone read this book before?

I know I have enough training for sprints and even an OLY, but a HIM has me a little worried now.  HTFU is probably what it's going to take.

All these races this weekend - way to go all. I thought I was doing great with a 3 hour ride on the cervelo and another 45 on my Vulcan 900 (much easier on the Vulcan). Regardless-great day to be outside doing something.

Getting up at 4 am sucks - no other way to describe it. But it is one time that assures you will get a workout in. I'll give/ take a challenge to see who can get up more consecutive days (weekdays only) and workout for at least 30 minutes. I'm traveling for the next 2 weeks, so it will be difficult for me, but I will try. I've struggled with the 4am since the time change. Still managed to get most workouts in, but it has not been easy.

Hey y'all. Where did that southern drawl come from? Brain must be devoid of glucose after my HIM today. It was a good day. I'm tired bit I think I'm supposed to be. . I channeled my inner Yanti on the swim and didn't once have to stop and take a break because of anxiety or getting knocked around, which of course happened. Bike was windy, windy. And this run is so freaking flat I find it challenging to maintain Focus but did better than last year with it. I don't think I'll need to do this one again next year. Hard to believe but my next tri is a full ironman. I hope you're all having a great weekend. Don't ya just love yantis new avatar? Endorphin-induced hugs and flipper fives all around. Someone can take John up on his early morning challenge-- not me.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.  Our weather was awesome, so I didn't want it to end.  Under a tornado warning right now, but the weekend sure was nice.

Congrats to Trina AND Lynn!  Great races!  Lynn - you will totally rock that IM!  And Trina...3rd on your first race...ummm...addicted much

I got in a decent ride this weekend (40 miles give or take a little).  Changed a flat for a friend...all of the girls were super impressed.  Thank goodness my husband taught me how to do that!

Same friend took a wrong turn, so after giving her a shout, I stopped to wait on her to catch back up.  The nice lady riding behind me politely appologized...then fricking hit me.  Knocked me smooth off of my bike.  Luckily I was almost to a stop, so I landed kinda like you do when you unclip the wrong foot (you know you've done it)   The whole time I was thinking...If you have time to apologize, you shoud've had time to squeeze the little thingies that activate the BRAKES!  Anywho, a little scrape-age, blood and whiplash, but no harm done.  Bless her heart!

Now, off to yoga to stretch it out and firm it up.

Some days it is better to just stay in bed.  Tried to swim at lunch and get out of the funk, but the pool is closed for 2 weeks.
