bananatoes - 2011-03-19 7:40 PM they changed the course  so you shouldnt need your hilly legs. You shouldnt even have to shave your legs - I'm not.

Triathletes should not have hairy legs. Period. I don't care what Faris Al Sultan looks like.

Is it that 0.5 secs of aero advantage it gives you? Dont give me that " It makes cleaning road rash easier " excuse . You just want to shave your legs.  Dont worry, I think there should be some coupons for Venus razors in the Sunday papers.

Um hmmm... just sayin' although at first I was a bit put off as I was unsure about the BF's legs having less hair than mine...but all I can say is aero dynamics does not just apply to the bike. David Tri's sorry I missed your FB chat tonight, what's up? I was totally serious about a place to stay and I bet you could even ride down to my joint with Aysel so there you go, gas and place to stay covered just pay the teensy reg fees and come join all of us. Post Race Hydration afterward for sure. B-Toes you are in charge of finding the place for all of us.

Are you kidding?  It's race season...I think I wax, pluck and shave more for a tri than I do a date.  Which on second thought is probably part of my problem.

Yeah, DavidTris you can ride down to Dayton with me if you want.  Your bike should fit in my truck.

We're closing in on a sellout, Miami caps the number of participants, so if you're interested don't hesitate, it's going to be a great season opener.

How is the seeding for the pool swim?  I'm assuming since it's a 400 M swim that it's a 50 meter pool with an 8-lane serpentine swim.  I'm just curious from those who have raced this in the past if they had any problems with a lot of people overestimating their swim times and clogging up the lanes?

I put my 500 meter swim time at 5:45, (1:09 per 100) which is probably a little fast for me, but probably what I'll end up doing given the usual race day adrenaline and going out too fast early.

Miami is sold out! Thanks everyone.

If you missed out, there's still room at the inaugural Ohio U tri on 5/7.

Do not not worry, everyone, if you feel to be slow!

Since I have registered for Miami Triathlon as my first one, the last place is reserved.

Have a question though.... is it really bad if there is a rain????

Welcome to the madness Trig! No worries, I'm the biggest whiner of the group as I am the most fair weather rider there is, even if there is rain it won't be bad. I did Miami as my first Tri last year and my adrenaline was so hyped I didn't even notice that it was only 40 degrees when I came out of the pool and that I couldn't feel my feet for the first half of the run. You will do great and I'm sure you will surprise yourself when you don't come in last place, I know I sure did.

Got in 18.5miles on the bike and then a 5k today.  Looking to just break 1:20 for an overall time for this being my first.

Fears for first tri:

Swim: Cramp up after 200M  then

Bike: Flat rear tire in the rain then

Run: 1 shoe as someone has taken the other

Finish in about 2.5 hours wincing in pain and cursing why I thought this was even a good idea to get into

The good thing is it's a pool swim, so if you cramp up, you can grab the wall.

It's short enough you shouldn't have to worry about a flat tire.  Nothing you can do if it rains, just take the corners a little more carefully.

I've never heard of anyone stealing gear at HFP events.  I did see a guy lose a shoe in a mud hole today at a trail run in Germantown though!

Dude! I was at that race this morning too! I was really glad that I finished up before the rain started really coming down. Twin Creek and the mud is always a good time.

Yeah, we got poured on driving home.  Just a very light sprinkle as I was running.  I had a great time.  I need to get some trail running shoes though.  I wore old shoes to save my usual running shoes and now am the recipient of some giant blisters.

Less than a week now - should I bother to take the bike off the trainer this week or just make my first riding experience outside in six months on race day?

I think you already know the answer to this...it's beautiful out.  Get out and feel the REAL wind, and not the fan wind.

We got out there and enjoyed a nice 26 mile out and back in the sun. Of course, the headwinds were all on the "back"....

I had the same experience on my 37 mile ride.  The headwind was so strong, the return downhill leg felt like a long slow climb.
