Sunny
Total Time = 1h 17m 46s
Overall Rank = 232/
Age Group = Clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 6/15
Pre-race routine:

Dragged the girls out of bed, drove up to Clermont, stopped for a Dt. Mt. Dew and an oatmeal pie. Wanted a banana but the store didn't have any..next time I'll bring my own. I realize I'm opening myself up for all manner of "bring your own banana" jokes here.
Event warmup:

swam 100 yards or so
Swim
  • 09m 30s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

Nice swim for me..kept my breathing controlled, came out feeling ready to bike! I think I was a bit faster this swim than the last two..I actually had to pick a course through some other people rather than being among the last out of the water in my wave, as before.
What would you do differently?:

swim faster! I'm working on it.
Transition 1
  • 02m 14s
Comments:

Trotted in, got the bike, trotted out. No breakneck runner here.
Bike
  • 36m 37s
  • 12.3 miles
  • 20.15 mile/hr
Comments:

I like this bike course..it's no "sit down in aero position and chug" course. I got up to 44.1 mph on one downhill, and I stood up to go 12 mph up at least one climb. Passed a bunch of people, and went easy enough to save some legs for the run.

And..I got another damn penalty! That makes 3 races in a row, which is kind of funny, but it's starting to get annoying!

The first two, I got penalties for racking my bike in the wrong spot (don't ask). This time I made absolutely sure I racked at my name, on my number. I have no clue what the penalty is for; I emailed the organizers. Maybe they just figured after the first two races I was used to adding 2 minutes and they should do it again. :)

I've given the original total and bike times here. My AG rank would have actually been 6th, so that's what I've put also..heck with the official results!
Transition 2
  • 01m 29s
Comments:

trotted back in, threw my shirt on (couldn't find the race belt for this race) and headed out.
Run
  • 27m 57s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

Starting to get seriously hot by this time. I left transition with a stitch in my side/back, and feeling sort of sick/headachy. I poured water over my head at a couple of points and after getting the first mile or so gone, finally started to be able to get above a plodding pace. Not my fastest 3 miles ever by a long shot, but I got it done. :)
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Felt sort of queasy before the race. It was OK through the swim and bike, but I felt it on the run. Not sure why I felt that way; I drank water only during the race to try and avoid any issues.

Event comments:

All in all a fun race again. I am happy with my performance but wondering what in the heck the penalty was for. It would not have changed my placing but I'd like to have a race without seeing that last column in the results with "2:00" in it!

Maybe the penalty was for not bringing your own banana?

Great race, especially that bike split - wow!

I'll echo...GREAT RACE!  I hope you get the queasiness and penalty-getting out of your system soon!

But, Kendall...NEVER leave home without your banana.  Who knows what it will do while you are gone?

Great race!

I don't know, maybe they figured you'd miss having that 2:00 column next to your name. Then again, maybe they're just out to get you.
