Precipitation
Total Time = 8h 50m 8s
Overall Rank = 19/31
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Getting as warmed up as possible. Set up transition area. Put plastic on my running shoes in case it rained.
Event warmup:

Light jogging, stretching, especially warming up my arms for the swim. Knew it was too cold to do a prerace warmup in the water and then get out to wait for the start.
Swim
  • 1h 26m 7s
  • 4000 meters
  • 02m 09s / 100 meters
Comments:

By the last 600 meters or so I was so cold and stiff I felt like Frankenstein trying to swim!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Did the best I could. I'm not much of a swimmer.
Transition 1
  • 03m 41s
Comments:

Very cold from the swim. Hard to get dry enough to put on arm warmers and bike jersey. Really had to be patient with that.
Bike
  • 4h 30m 50s
  • 74.6 miles
  • 16.53 mile/hr
Comments:

Too cold from the cold water and air temps. I could feel my quads very tight when I first got on the bike and knew I'd have to start out real slow. Had to take quite a while to get up to speed, and hardly ever was able to keep up my preferred cadence.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Cold was my biggest problem, and you just can't train through that in Florida.
Transition 2
  • 05m 17s
Comments:

Running barefoot into transition area from bike I couldn't feel my toes they were so numb. It was raining so after I racked my bike I took my run gear into the portapotty and was at least able to put my shoes on in a warm dry place (and got some other business out of the way too!) I know, too much information!
Run
  • 2h 44m 11s
  • 18.6 miles
  • 08m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

Took a while to warm up the legs, but I really felt good for the whole run. Promised myself I'd really try to NOT walk that hill (lots of people were walking it).

One of my better runs.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Very happy with my run.
Post race
Warm down:

Ate some, stretched and walked around, put warmups back on to keep warm.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Cold.

Event comments:

Sweden has some strange weather patterns, but overall was an awesome experience. People over there very nice. Had a great time!

whew, I've been waiting for this report! Yep, 62 degrees is pretty cold for a swim (especially for a FLA girl) so I think you had a damn good race, including the swim

Hope you and your family had a great trip.

I don't think the water in Houston Texas will ever get down to that temperature....

Bad-ass job....Keep it up.
