Does anyone watch their wedding videos years later?

Yeah, they usually get played on the 1st, 25th, and 50th anniversaries. If they last that long.

At least once a year.  Yesterday, in fact.

To be fair, our wedding video is only 40 minutes long and is so wonderfully done that it's like watching a music video where we know all the stars!  I've seen many typical videos and I can't imagine why anyone even spent good money on them, never mind actually watched them after the first time.

My wedding video is an HD-DVD. And I've only been married 11 months, but I'm sure we'll watch it on our anniversary!

My wife made me watch it every year.  Thank god we now have kids and she makes them watch it and not me.

The Mrs and I didn't have a videographer.  We did give our handheld video camera to a bridesmaid and asked her to walk around and get well wishes from family and friends.  She did a pretty good job and even took it into the bathroom with her, thinking it was shut off.  Hilarious!

I can understand them being upset about the video quality, and getting their money back, but to say it ruined the day (when I'm sure they didn't watch it THAT day)...

I didn't want one and have not regretted it. We have a beautiful wedding album the kids like to look at. That's enough for me. I was really nervous all day - not comfortable feeling like the center of attention. I didn't think a video camera of my every move would make me feel any better!

I doubt there are any people who are close to 50 years with a video. We were married about 27 years ago, and it was pretty rare to have a video done then, as VCR's still were not very common. And of course, if you DID get a video made then, at some point, you probably would have wanted to convert it to DVD - which tends to leave a very grainy video, especially on the bigger HD screens so many people have.

I have watched the video more times than I have eaten on the good china plates we registered for, which is a total of ZERO times in 10 years.

I think we've eaten on our China 3 times. I don't like eating on it because I'm a clumsy, ham fisted ape and I know the wife will be upset when I finally manage to break something.

Since we didn't get a video, we don't have the comparison to make though.

Wish we had had one. The morning before the wedding my best man and I were in the hotel bar having a pre-wedding beer. The restaurant staff was acting really odd, so we asked what was going on. It turns out the band KISS had performed that night, were staying inthe hotel and were at that moment in the lobby. I look over and my 65 year old mother is sitting next to Ace and Gene and is blissfully unaware of who they are! I would love a video of that moment. The meeting of two VERY different worlds!

We spent the extra money to have our video recorded on Blu-Ray. We think it was totally worth it. Making copies for the family was the only difficult part.

I would also recommend not hiring this guy for your photographer:
