When you accidentally get in the age group area before the swim start and without asking a dude comes up and tells you the Clydesdale group is at the back and goes last. (happened last weekend!)

SoberTriGuy - 2011-05-06 11:05 AM You know you're a Clydesdale when your heart rate monitor doubles as an under wire bra....

Still Laughing at this one.. especially since it fits in between the belly and the "underwire" portion ... LOL

... your friend recommends an Orca trisuit for your next race and you try to figure out if they are taking a friendly jab or dead serious.

The 5 yr old running her first 5k finishes just ahead of you. Not so much the finish ahead, but the fact that she made me feel like an elephant charging through the forest. Every time I would get within 5 ft to pass, she would take off sprinting. It was very amusing and helped the miles tick by, but I certainly knew I was the 300lb Gorilla of the race.

Omg! This happened at my first 5k too! There were 2 girls that would specifically not let me get ahead. I'd get close, they would speed up. It was funny but I understood completely. I wouldn't want to get passed by me either.

I was going to pass a little girl in a 5k, but I told her "come on now, don't let the fat guy pass you!" and she smiled and got running. I was glad she got to finish ahead of someone besides the walkers 15 minutes behind me.

I know I'm a Clyde when I can't wear half of the t-shirts I have earned. Fine by me, they're my first trophies anyway.

You know you're a clyde when your 5 yr old asks: "Daddy, How come those other guys [in the pictures] don't have a jiggly tummy like you?"

When the volunteers, high school cheerleaders, cringe at the sight of you, as you trample towards T1 half naked. (just tri shorts)

When you're standing in the staging area in a one piece tri suit and some dude comes up and says, "man I would like to shake your hand, it's great you're out here doing this."
Happened to me two summers ago. Felt great at the end and talked to the guy again and found out I beat him by over 15 minutes.

... you read in swimming articles about "REDUCING DRAG" by pointing your toes, no scissor kicks, palms flat, head looking down and in line with spine, etc. and start to wonder to yourself...

"So, what do I do with my pot belly?"

When you have to go to a "specialty" shop to buy a sports bra and none of the sports clothes stores carry anything that fits you unless it's in the men's section.

Sorry for just jumping in but I found out I'm an Athena when someone asked over on the general thread. I'll go do an intro thread now, lol

at least 75-100 people cheer you on with "Go Doughboy!" on the course.

Of course, wearing this shirt helps...

Who's the Clyde?

one of these things is not like the others,

one of these things is just does not belong,

can you tell which thing is not like the others

by the time I finish my song?

sorry, couldn't help myself. Bill Cosby would be proud of his influence on my childhood memories.

"So, what do I do with my pot belly?"

It creates lift like the bow of a boat, at least that's what I keep telling myself.
