Subject: RE: Roadies please help!!! I've seen a lot of responses about proper bike fit, and there are numerous comments about the saddle. However, noone has mentioned the positioning of the drops on the handlebars.
JKat, was most of your riding on the tops of the bars, in the drops, or with your hands on the hoods? When in your hands was the pain?
When I'm not on the aero bars, I spend my time on the hoods. (Can't get to the top of the bar b/c of the aero bars ). When I first got my bike, I found the hoods were angled too far up on the handlebars. Rather than my hand nestling into the curve between the bars and the hoods, it made for a funny angle on my wrists and created put extra pressure on the flesh between my thumb and first finger.
There is a lot of personal preference on where you position the shifters/hoods, so don't be afraid to experiment with this during your fitting. (The only downside is the need to unwrap and retape the bar. )
