Swim
Comments: I cannot believe how the swim felt! I crawled the whole thing, felt great the whole time, it was a moment to remember! Last year my swim time was 31:33 What would you do differently?: Keep training! Woowho! Transition 1
Comments: I ran to T1 with a huge smile on my face. I was so high about my swim! There was a lot of traffic in the transition area, so getting out to the bike start was slower than I wanted. But I love the atmosphere of this huge race so I'll live with the company! What would you do differently?: Try the helmet on, suit off at the same time Bike
Comments: I did well on the flats, awesome on the downhills, and I slowed on the uphills. I had a great time, passing tons of racers, and a handful of us played cat and mouse for most of the race. It was a blast! Hydrated with watered down gatorade, had one Gu early in bike ride with water. Last year my bike time was 45:49 What would you do differently?: Hillwork, hillwork, hillwork Transition 2
Comments: Dismount and running into T2 went well, changed socks and shoes, had half a banana, and took a pit stop. I learned that if your bum is damp and you sit on one of those paper seat protectors, it sticks to you and shreds and you waste precious seconds getting it off. What would you do differently?: "Hover" at the pit stop. Run
Comments: Caught up with Team Danskin members, saw my friend Vinette on her way in. She was intense, not sure if she knew it was me that yelled to her. I high fived most volunteers. The Volunteers for this event are the very best. They cheer, they smile, they are absolutely awesome. Toward the end of the run, I passed a woman who yelled, there you are girlfriend. She was one of the riders that was in the cat and mouse during the bike ride. She eventually got ahead of me on the bike. Turns out she lives about a mile from my house, so after the race we exchanged phone numbers and agreed to meet for training. On the hill, there was a group of guys playing drums. The beat was motivating and I did pretty good skooting up it. Last year's run time: 33:02 What would you do differently?: Train more in run: hills, endurance, intervals Post race
Warm down: Water, propel, apples with peanut butter smeared on them (yummy) Walked around, returned to finish line to cheer for finishers and congratulate fellow Team Danskin Members. Event comments: I will remember the joy of this day forever! Link to Photos: http://www.brightroom.com/view_user_event.asp?EVENTID=7507&PWD=&BIB... Last updated: 2005-02-07 12:00 AM

Friday: Got a pedicure. My polish looks so good with my tri-suit!
Saturday: Expo and Racking
Sunday: Woke up at 4:33 and felt great. My alarm was set for 5:01, so I shut it off and got up. Dressed, double-checked bag, and had coffee, wheat bagel with peanut butter, and one Dannon Smoothie.
My wonderful husband/photographer and I drove to Seattle Safeco Field Parking Garage and took shuttle to the race site. We saw a few Team Danskin members and shared some excited hugs and "You Go Girlfriend" cheers.
At the race site: Checked and added air to my tires, set up transition area, put on my new Ironman Stealth wetsuit and headed to the lake/race start. This day was beautiful. It was a nice mild temperature and the sun was beginning to shine.
There were so many waves, maybe 30 or so. I was in wave 12. Wave 5 was in the water. My friend/tri-recruit was in Wave 5. I could not pick out her yellow cap in the sea of 150 yellow caps; I yelled "Go Vinette" anyway!
I got in the water and warmed up until wave 10 started up. I got to the swim start chute in time to say hi, is this your first tri?, good luck, what's your name to three women around me. Sally Edwards came through our group of red caps, sharing high "tens" and hugs. We got our word: Powerful and did the "We are Powerful swimmers, cyclists, runners, triathletes" cheer. Then the countdown from 10 and we were off!
