Subject: RE: How windy is too windy?I was JUST thinking about that video again! I have felt the wind grab my bike, but never pick it up sideways like that when holding it. Then again, those bikes are probably several pounds lighter than mine. I stopped a ride several weeks back at about 40 miles into a 60 miler. It was windy when I left with the wind from my right, and I had some awesome splits with it behind me. As I approached a windfarm and all the windmills were pointed over my shoulder I knew I was in trouble when I had to turn. On the return trip into the wind I called it quits after a mile or two of sub 7mph. Called in for a ride and met up with family a couple miles later. (And the darn wind eased up too, I probably could have made it back but I wasn't calling off the rescue once they were on the road...) I went back the next weekend and finished it when it was slightly less windy. The last 10 miles still blew big time though... |
