Pre-race routine:

Arrived early and had time to stretch, run, stretch, yak yak yak, stretch, swim.
Event warmup:

Oh, wasn't that my prerace routine?
Swim
  • 34m
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 16s / 100 meters
Comments:

Yowza, where's the endurance gone?
I've learned to cough while swimming, thanks to the lingering effects of whooping cough!
That was slower than my swim in the first of these races in May! :(
What would you do differently?:

Train.
I was slow, but I think I was pretty smooth and steady.
Transition 1
  • 01m
Comments:

Transition was good. It was getting dark, and it's a short run. Didn't need much more than shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Ooops, forgot my race belt with my number!
Run
  • 25m
  • 5 kms
  • 05m  min/km
Comments:

Held a good effort for the whole run. Amazingly, my HR was 175-180! Way, way too high. That's how I know I still have some recovery to do and some endurance to win back.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked & stretched

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training and illness.

Event comments:

I love this series! Next year they want to make it weekly. That would be FANTASTIC!!
Great last-race barbecue and Ryan (I think) brought the suds! Thanks! :)

What a fun race!  Too bad this picture uploaded so small - I'll also put it in my album.  There I think you can see it larger.

And, my daughter Emily in front (eyeing the guys!)  ;)

Your daughter is a smart little girl! She's learning the best part of multisport events at an early age

Great race, Brett - despite the whooping cough! Coughing while swimming is quite an art form. I've had to do that a few times too. I hope you start feeling better soon.

CO-BT'ers ROCK (and I mean both in athletic ability and to 80s big-hair bands). Good times!

Great race Brett, although I still don't know how you beat me on the swim!

Your little girl is the smartest especially when she said, "Daddy, you don't need shoes to swim!"

She's headed for Harvard that one. Lovely to meet your fam and thanks for the pic. O.

Good to see you out there, and nice race! After listening to some of the mountaineering and expeditions you've been on, this triathlon stuff's gotta be a walk in the park for you! I'm sure your fitness will come back in no time.
