Who is doing Barrie this weekend?

Any suggestions from those who have done it before?

Will they post on the site if wetsuits are allowed?

current water temperature is 24c but it was up at 26c for an hour yesterday. Generally 26c or less and its wetsuit legal. I dont know if the Barrie tri is really sticky on rules so hard to say??

Is the Barrie event part of a series or all on its own?

I don't see any affiliation.

Anyone know where the swim course is usually set up?

I have family in the area so I think it might be fun to do this one next year.

Anyone have any opinions on it. Challenging? Well run? etc...

I've seen the bike and run courses - it'd be hard to find a race that's flatter.

The bike course is a four loop 5 k circuit.  I'm expecting the turnarounds to be quite interesting.

I checked the map on their site and it does look like it would be really flat. The bike course looks rather uninspiring.

Interested to hear your impressions after. Good Luck on the race.

It was certainly a fast course (note, I said the COURSE was fast, not me).

Flat as you can imagine. If that makes it uninspiring then... it's uninspiring, but you could rack up the average speed.

Bike course was wide and roads were decent quality.

Run course was walk/bike path, good quality but narrowish.

This race isn't part of a series so it does have a different vibe to it: few sponsors, no vendors, number of entrants capped at around 255 I believe for the tri. I'd gladly do it again next year.

my only complaint was the bike course, It was fast but at the ends you had to do a 180 degree turn  which bottle necked and chocked with bikers. Each time around I had to really slow down, pray that no one hit anyone else and then hammer it back up to speed. Given the road its the best that could be done but it would have been nice if they shut down more of the road and had a longer stretch. 4 loops was also a little boring. It was nice that there was no rain, apparently they have had bike accidents in the past, no doubt at those 180 corners.

7km from my house though so it was nice to bike to an event and not have to get up so early.

It looks like an ambulance was called for someone.

Anyone know what happened? Is everyone ok?

from what I was told a man had a heart attack just before the finish line, they brought him back twice before sending him off to the hospital but I have not heard anything since then. I will try to find more information.
