Total Time = 1h 38m 25s
Overall Rank = 425/493
Age Group = 20-24 W
Age Group Rank = 6/7
Pre-race routine:

Get really nervous, jump around, ask a million questions, tie my gigantic snail balloon to the rack...got looks from other racers...worry about competition, have dellusions of winning.
Event warmup:

Running around trying to remember where the hell everything is.
Swim
  • 10m 19s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

HOLY CRAP WAS THE WATER COLD!! It was a huge kick in the teeth. The water was also extremely shallow at some points, to the point where it made it very odd to swim, a lot of people ran a good distance, I chose to stay down as long as I could. I got an elbow to the face in the first 200 yards. My heart was beating out of my chest for no real good reason. Swam unbelievably straight...directly buoy to buoy, I hardly sighted at all.
What would you do differently?:

Think about my placement in the pack.
Transition 1
  • 02m 1s
Comments:

Had a good transition, thanks to my dorky balloon. I washed my feet, got my socks on, and was gone like a bat outta hell. Got my insulin pump on no problem. Not too bad.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 41m
  • 13 miles
  • 19.02 mile/hr
Comments:

I thought I was going to have a good bike, but for some reason I had a rough time with it..just didn't feel as good as I thought I would. Had cramps, felt uncomfortable with the people staring at my behind.
What would you do differently?:

Not be on my period.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

I lost control of my bike after I dismounted and almost took out this woman who ended up being 2nd. I just was really frustrated at this point and couldn't take it. The rack was also very very low, which is bad when your bike frame is really, really big, so I had a hard time racking.
What would you do differently?:

Calm down and not be on my period
Run
  • 42m 5s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 13m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

I couldn't believe that I actually had a good run! Granted I'm still pulling a 12 minute mile...but I didn't walk a single step the entire race!! I ran the whole time! Small victories!!
What would you do differently?:

Run faster!
Post race
Warm down:

I couldn't feel my legs! So I had some powerade and some fig newtons and hugged my boyfriend. I was really really glad to be done. I had set a goal of 1:40 or under...and I beat it!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was on my period and very very crampy and bleeding a lot :(. I also woke up SEVERELY hypoglycemic that morning which gave me a headache for the whole day.

Event comments:

Everything started on time, course was well marked, lots of water stations on the run with nice cold water, plenty of food at the end. Beautiful area to have a race too.

Tracey, did you hear my cheering you on! Actually, I had no idea you were there or who you were, but I was clapping for everyone at the finish line. I think I have bruises on my hands. LOL!

Driving to Presque Isle it was quite chilly in the morning (I think it was in the mid50's when I got there at 8:45am). I was wondering if the swim was going to be cold. Sounds like it was. It was really weird looking way out at everyone in the lake running in waist deep water. Very strange!

There were some REALLY nice bikes there. Many many more than at the first tri I went and watched earlier this summer.

Good job on your race under not the best of circumstances! That was fun reading your race report.

Great race.  I'm kind of wondering why it took you 93 hours to complete it, but it IS that time!LOL!

Seriously, terrific job, especially under less than ideal circumstances

Nice race, and if you edit it and move the hours to minutes and minutes to seconds in your times your total race time shouldn't read 90+ hours any more.

Nice Race!!

Congrats on running the whole way...nice achievement..your training is paying off.

I enjoyed your race report. I think the math on the bike speed is still messed up...I know you were going faster than 1/3 of a mile per hour.

yeah guys...I might be a newbie, but I'm not THAT slow. Heheh. I really liked this race. I was sort of disapointed in my bike ride though...I could have definitely gone faster, but I don't know what it was about that course that I just wasn't feeling it. The run went SUPER SUPER well for me, which NEVER happens. Although I think the running on the sand was a bit rough. Will definitely race here again though, just wish it was a bit longer!!! If they add Oly distance to this, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

OH! And the music selection was PRICELESS! I got a good laugh out of Queen screaming "BIII CYCLE BIII CYCLE!" when I was coming into the transition. The Theme from Rocky on the way out to the beach was pretty tremendous as well.

Great race.  You make me laugh!  I've never raced during "that time of month" but I can just imagine how uncomfortable that would be!  Nice run too!

What was your race #? I think I was right next to you in the transition area? Did I talk to you about the endless hills triathlon?

Great race Tracey, and great race report.  Way to beat your goal!  You're average bike speed was over 19 MPH!?  And you said you had a bad ride?  You were smokin' girl.
