Starts tomorrow on CBS.  In my office pool (all for fun and $) I've got Rafe and Brandi.

How long will they know that Gary was an ex NFL QB?

Is this show being milked for another season, I wasn't aware. I guess we are a little slow to catch on here in OZ. Are you a devotee of "THE JEFF"?

I'll just go tally the votes

I still like the first one the best. I hope they get a good group of people. It's the personalities that make it sooo good. Another "reality" show I like watching is the biggest loser. It's amazing what those guys and gals accomplish.

My 11-year-old son and I have a "date" each week and watch Survivor together. (And Amazing Race when it's on, too). Can't say that we see any obvious winners yet, but I was shocked by the way the guys just keeled over after the first challenge. They all seemed to be in excellent shape. I have figured out though, that the people who get a lot of face time in the early episodes seem to get voted off earlier in the game. It's like the producers want to give them their 15 minutes of fame before they're booted off the island. With that in mind, I think the waiter is going off the island next week. Who do you think?

Do you mean Bobby Joe? I don't think he will. I think the New York doorman will if his team loses. He strikes me as the kind of guy that will annoy the crap out of everyone.

But the producers like to keep the annoying ones around to keep things interesting. When it comes to reality TV, nice people are boring.

I liked when Gary Hogeboom was asked what he did for living that his response was "I own my own landscaping business" instead of "I was the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys."

I can't believe they'd put a semi-celebrity on the show.

It's all about gimmicks. I read in Entertainment Weekly that there was talk for a while about doing an "all celebrity" Survivor, but that didnt' make it. Probably because there wasn't enough room for all their entourages on the island!

Actually, a while back, I tried out for Amazing Race with my best friend. We made it through the screening process but didn't get picked for the show. We had to sign inches of paperwork promising not to divulge their production secrets and as part of that, you give them permission to film you 24/7 and they can edit it and show whatever they want. So a celebrity is really taking a risk by exposing their true-selves like that. Actually, the producers can edit the footage however they want, so it's hard to say exactly what really goes on....

And I've probably said too much! I hope they don't pull out that paperwork and sue me! ha.

Leadership at first can be a curse.  All the others look at you as being a threat...Even though you know what needs to be done.

Perfect example was the last one, think her name was Yolanda the lawyer.  Just to bossy at first.  But she seemed to be a physical get things done studette.  But we will never know, she scared them the first three days.

Dh and I also have Thursday night date night for Survivor. However, the past few years have been uninspiring. I'm hoping for some excitement or at least good cast members this year!

What's more important?   Working around the camp, getting food, wood, or water?  Or being somewhat athletic for challenges?

That seemed to be the major question last Thursday.

They have had a triathlete on the show. About two or three seasons ago. Voted off relatively early (seen as a threat). I'll look back and see if I can find him...

Now I remember Alex Bell, didn't know/or pay attentiion to triathletes at the time.  I was a marathoner in training.  Hadn't morphed into a triathlete.

Another contestant in that Survivor Amazon went on to do the Hawaii IM.  Deena Bennett.  Think she qualfied at Wildflower.
