Love my 2005 Jetta TDI!  I can fit 4 bikes on top and 4 adults (inside) comfortably.  And the turbo kicks butt!  Never ever had a problem with it.

We are about to pull the trigger on a Jetta Sportwagen TDI.  We love the way it drives and the cargo room.  I commute by interstate 35-70 miles depending on the day.  I have a little concern about future repairs/maintenance/reported issues but that would be the case with about any vehicle at that price point.

03 Passat. It's fun to drive, handles and performs well, but is expensive to maintain and repair.

Not one of the cars you asked about - although it is a Passat, technically - but I drive a CC Sport. About to hit 10k miles and I absolutely love it, to the point where I look for reasons to take it out for a spin. The 2.0 turbo (combined with 6-speed stick) is quick, very responsive and I get great gas mileage, ~32-34mpg highway on 93 octane. The 4-seater layout is a deal-breaker for a lot of people, though, and to carry bikes I have to use our minivan (VW Routan). It's the first car I've ever owned that I've received compliments on from random strangers in parking lots, at stoplights etc.

I had an '02 Jetta before it that ran fine, until my wife drowned it in a flooded street during a rainstorm last year, never ran right after that but it was a fun ride up to then.

ETA - I had one window on the Jetta drop while driving, it sounded like someone threw something at my car and when I got home I noticed the window was down and wouldn't raise. Dealership took care of it the next day, and proactively fixed whatever the known issue was with the other windows too.

I have a 2011 Jetta Sportwagen TDI, and it is the best car i have owned. I was a Japanese import guy owning Mazdas and Infiniti. They are cool cars, can haul a boat load and the TDI is the neatest engine I've driven. The torque is a lot of fun, especially off the line.

I'm a big guy (6'2" 250) and although it's much smaller than the previous cars I've owned, it is spacious and I love the German engineering. They think of everything and I am constantly finding new features.

The nice thing about TDI, is that they hold their value. Not only are they hard to find used that are a few years old, but they have a cult like following. People are nuts for them and after owning one, I see why.

My neighbors bought a new Passat TDI in the spring.  We've gone a few places with them in it and it is a real nice car.  Funny thing is her husband is German and they stopped buying VW in the past because of some quality issues and just came back to the brand.  That TDI is amazing, she travels a lot and gets great MPG traveling 75-80 mph.  When he took me to the airport in July I asked what's the MPG is like at speed, at a steady 90mph the instantaneous MPG was 35-38 at 100 it was 32-35 (FL flat as can be).
