Even if you are riding frequently, how is it best to store your bike? Is it okay for it to be wheels on floor? Should wheels be off the ground and bike held up by the frame? Is hanging in clips by the inside of the wheels a big no-no?

I hang it by the rear wheel on a hook in the garage.

Panda_Jack - 2011-10-18 8:18 PMI hang it by the rear wheel on a hook in the garage.
Is there any danger of warping the wheel by doing that?

My bike has a Harry Potter style cupboard under the stairs.  Tires sit on the floor.  I've never thought anything of it.

Mine hangs in the garage upside down by both wheels.  That way I can park my car under it.

The guys at the shop say no.  And I've been storing it like that for a year and my wheels are still true.

On the KK Road Machine with minimum pressure applied to the skewer and the front wheel on a phone book, or in a homemade floor stand that fits on either wheel.  The only issue with storing it on the trainer is yo HAVE TO TIGHTEN the axle nut BEFORE riding it.  (See treads related to crashes while riding indoors.)

On the trainer in front of the couch IF I have any trainer rides since my last outdoor ride, or know I will... against the wall in the bar area (formal dining room technically).

Since my bike is still new (2 months old - first road bike), it's in the master bedroom against the wall.  My wife complains but when I come home and the garage door is still open I kindly remind her why it's still in the bedroom, and not in the garage waiting for some crackhead to jack it...

My P2 lives in the dining room.

My R3 lives in the family room.

My ancient steel Bianchi lives on the front porch.

I love being surrounded by my bikes and would not have it any other way...........

Ever since my youngest moved out they have their own bedroom. One's in the PVC bike rack I made standing up and one's leaning against the dining room table.

If you ride your bike at least once a week (sacrilege) then you move the wheels enough they won't get flat spots.

If hanging by their wheels will damage the bike there are a lot of bike shops that will have damaged bikes because that's a primary way to store them there.

In my closet so I have to climb over it to get my close. A good reminder to get up on the trainer.

Mountain bike by hooks in the garage.  Road bike in a bike stand I bought from a bike shop going under.  It's one of  those kind that the wheel sits in and it has a small roller that pushes the wheel.   I paid $15 bucks for it.  There is another shop closing in December and I am getting 3 more from them.  Small foot print and easy to move around the garage.

Mountain bikes and the tandem hang on the wall in the garage.  The road bike leans against the wall in the formal dining room, and the cross bike, the tri bike, and extra wheels hang in the spare bedroom.

Another one who gives the bikes their own bedroom - isn't it great when the kids move out - the bikes move in?

Two are on hooks by the nose of the saddle; one sits on the floor of the garage; one is on two hooks by the top tube; one is on the trainer.
