Hi Challenge Me fans. Anyone interested in getting on their trainers? My bike is getting its post-season tune up now, including a new smaller crank. After dropping the coin I need to get my $'s worth! I'm not a crappy weather fan so I'll be sticking to indoor torture. Can someone share the structure of such a challenge? Let's burn off the halloween candy get ready for turkey day!

Hmmm...  what if you continue to train outside?  Does hours on the bike work as a measurement - trainer or road?  I am planning on a 100k Turkey Roll ride in Nov along with a couple of 45-55 mile training rides...

I'd like to join! I've been stalking the cycling program challenge, I really want to do that again this year but so far there's been no announcement. I really need to get back on the bike so this challenge will be a good thing for me

I say time in the saddle counts-but if it's outside maybe it's 1/2 a point? Has anyone done this before? How do I start a spreadsheet? PS I did shutter at the iron donkey!

The original Get Your A$$ on the trainer challenge was in cumulative points.  It was a logistic nightmare for Max to track points cause there were points for each ride cumulative with days in a row and then you lost points if you missed a day.  10 minutes was his minimum ride length ( I did one 10 min ride in my pj'a at 11 PM one night so I wouldn't lose all my accumulated points for consecutive days)

That said, I think you could set it up however you want.  Some people will still be able to ride outdoors.  Some people may be wanting to use spin classes or gym bikes.  You set the rules and the point system.

Although i never joined i do remember it being a crazy points system - we need Max back xoxo.  Spin class/gym bike would be great to incorporate, too. But #1 change -  i think it should be a minimum of 15 mins  let's see if you bunny slippers can handle that - LOL =)

ok - i'll start crunching some numbers

How about instead of making it too complicated we get points for time spent riding, in 15 minute increments? Then people can choose to ride their trainers, go to spin classes or ride outside and still get points?

I really like that idea, simple is always better! I just want that extra incentive for 'days-in-a-row'.  It needs to be a big enough point value... i don't want to say to myself 'well if i just stay on another 15 minutes i can take tomorrow off'......

I could set that up in excel, but I am unsure if google docs supports the formulas I am thinking of.   You would have to have a daily entry (like 30 days) and an idea of how you want points to carry forward.  i.e  each day in a row counts as an additional "point" so if you ride 3 days in a row at 30 mins, you would get 2 points for each day and then maybe an extra half point for 3 days ago and an extra quarter point for yesterday so it would total 6.75 points for the 3 days as opposed to 6 points for one day at 1.5 hours or 6.25 points for for two days in a row of 45mins...  so basically if you rode everyday you would get an extra 108.75 pts (27 hrs)under that scheme.  You could limit it to a certain maximum "extra points" per day of like either 4 (an hour) or 2 (30 min) which works out to a maximum "extra" of 86pts (21hrs) at the max 4 and 5 pts (12.75hrs)

or something like that...

Google felt there was 'suspicious activity' and made us change the password. I'm assuming this was because someone would log on from California one minute, NY the next, and Australia right after that.
