Does anyone know if Ironman Florida is still going to be in Panama City Beach?  Seems like I had heard rumors of it moving but I can't remember where I heard that.

Hopefully my employment situation has more stability by the time registration rolls around.  I might have some trouble letting go of $425 or whatever it is otherwise.

I have my first 1/2 IM on 11/13, bt registration for IM FL is before that. I am just going to sign up for IM FL 2006 before finishing my 1/2IM. I know if I don't I'll regret it! Although it's kind of like a 1/2 mary and a full mary- they are so different that you can't compare. I'd like to think that a 1/2 IM and a full are the same way.

Hope you're not in the Mens 35-39 race ... because I'm taking that slot!

The only way I'll do an IM event is if I qualify in with a slot. Otherwise I think I'll end up doing the Chesapeake Ultra or just run the Balt. marathon in the Fall again.

Runnergirl you will be fine....we will be celebrating your IM finish next year! As for not registering now if you are sure that you want to do it then sign up. However Gulf Coast and some other HIM races usually have slots on a first come first served basis after the race. I think that they have 30 IMLP, 30 IMWI, and 50 IMFL slots each year although I am sure that is subject to change.

I have heard rumblings of it moving, but I think I also read somewhere that they have signed for another 3 years?
Anyway, I am thinking of doing it in 2006, how is the race compared to IMLP in regards to scenery? I have done LP twice and love the course and scenery so was wondering how Florida is from those whom have done it.
Thanks
Chris

IMLP is much more scenic I loved the course there. The IMFL course is pretty dull..it goes through the pine forests north of town but it is a one loop course (for the most part) and PCB is a cool place to race.

Oh my gosh- only 2 weeks left until I take the plunge to register for IM FL.  Is anyone else a little freaked out?  Once I sign up and start training I'll be fine.  It's just the initial shock to overcome!

The $425 entry fee would shock the heck out of me! $200 was bad enough for the half .....

I am alot freaked out.  Just because I have no idea what my employment status will be during the next year.  I have no idea what my life will be at this time next year, so I am probably going to have to bow out.  Bummer.

How do these IM slots work? I thought you could qualify for a slot for a race that is closed. Am I missing something? You still have to pay for the race too, am I correct?

    Thanks
