Got up while the boss was talking, walked out, came to desk, started this thread. There is nothing better than having spend time in a meeting that has absolutely nothing to do with me. Did I tell you I hate meetings? Well, back to the torture chamber....errr meeting...

CHUCKY! Hello Hello Hello! Happy to see you were able to escape that meeting long enough to start a random thread.

Have a great day!

LOL- I can just see it now.  You stand up in the middle of a meeting, start ranting about useless meetings, throw your notebook on the table, and yell "I'm outta here.  There's more important ways that I could be spending my time right now.  Now you'll have to excuse me- I need to play on BT."  Classic.

I've done that too Chucky.  My boss wants me in a meeting (I don't really need to be there btw), towards the end of the meeting several of our sales people start yelling and insulting each other.  I stand up and say, "I have better things to do" And I'm just a peon (sp?) here, but they're annoying little sh*ts.  My boss laughed, I left.

I don't know why thats bold...it won't change back-sorry!

11 years ago, when I started working at this ad agency, I asked for a meeting with my boss (the president). I was sitting across from him at his desk and started talking to him about an issue that I had with one of our clients. After about 5 minutes, he stood up and said, "I'm bored," and walked out of the room! I was left sitting alone in his office! Believe me, after that, I learned to only bother him with issues when it was absolutely necessary, and then to be VERY concise!

Whizzer is back! yay!

Went back to the meeting that was only supposed to take 20 minutes but ended up being an hour. A whopping two minutes of that meeting was devoted to my department. Good use of time... I could have held the same meeting in under 10 minutes.

The nice thing is that they are implementing an architecture I proposed a year and half ago but was laughed out of the building when I proposed it. Now of course they don't remember me proposing it and they look in the mirror at themselves as friggin geniouses. I guess it's better late than never.

I'm so proud of you.

I left a meeting a week ago to sign up for St. Anthony's.

That's why you need the company to get wireless access. Then you can start the thread while in the meeting.

Now if you can take your wireless headset into the bathroom whilst on a conference call, unmute, flush, and mute, all undetected, you can achieve the same pinnacle as my father-in-law.  Yes, he did that and, yes, people still wonder who the hell it was.  He now calls himself the Phantom Phlusher.  He's also one of my heroes for this act of bravery in battle.

My meetings today resulted in me having to come out and lay off 11 (half my staff) people right before the holidays. I feel like scrouge.

I have my own bathroom in my office, far enough away from the telephone that on a long converence call, during the portions that do notinvolve me, I can, ah, empty the coffee in the middle of the meeting.

edited:  I'm at work and probably shouldn't be sharing that.....  too late, so I won't erase it.

i call that the bommarang (SP?) when that happens to me, i always tell everyone, "well i feel like in in austrailia" they all know how i hate it. the second thing i hate is when you have a meeting to change back the way it was done, and or to "find out a better way" and just reinvent the current system.
