Rocket Man - 2006-01-13 1:20 PM Care to provide the quote? I haven't ever heard that (that being said I don't read everything associated with the show)

I'm pretty sure it was in the Podcast "The Transmission," specifically their 12/21/05 "Theorycast," in which they outline and debunk various theories floating out there.

http://www.hawaiiup.com/lost/categories/episodes-of-the-transmission/

I also think the producers addressed the purgatory theory in the extras to the DVD. I'll have to check when I get home, specifically in the "Salute to Lost at the Museum of Television and Radio's 22nd Annual Paley Festival" if someone wants to check it out.

Not my originally cited quote, but the one from the DVD (JJ Abrams is the executive producer):

"Although Abrams laughed (appropriately) at a question about when frequent "Alias" plot device Rimbaldi would become a factor on "Lost," he admitted that the show's staff is very conscious of viewer response on sites including "The Fuselage." Thankfully Abrams dismissed the popularly held theory that the castaways are stranded in Purgatory, though he claimed to like the idea."

I've been meaning to ask - Eko carved Revelations into his 'jesus stick' - did anyone catch which Revelations it was?

Actually, I haven't worked for them in several months. I need to call guy that runs the security and tell him I'm available again.

But yeah, Jorge is pretty cool and down to earth. He's very easy going. I once saw him being nearly "carried" from the Pro-Bowl after the game. Dominic is really cool and loves to crack jokes. Whenever I see him away from the set it seems he is constantly on his cellphone. Evangiline is indeed very attractive in that "girl-next-door" kind of way. I've never had a conversation with her but she seems to be a very nice person from seeing her interact with the extras and other crew around the set.

The only "monster" I saw was the polar bear and it was just a big puppet. The other "thing" that is seen shaking bushes and all that sort of stuff isn't even known by the cast. The cast and crew only know the story up until the script they are shooting. The writers are very careful not to leak anything since that is one of the main reasons fans continue to tune in is to see what happens next!

Unfortunately, I don't watch the show so even if I did see something regarding the plot line.. I probably wouldn't recognize it.

From the 4815162342 website (http://www.4815162342.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4885

Other theories discredited by the writers/creators:

* The survivors are dead and/or in Purgatory.
Source- http://tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve_main/1,1002,271%7C94107%7C1%7C,00.html
* The survivors are in a time warp.
* Spaceships or aliens influence the events on the island.
Source for the two above- http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire2005/index.php?id=30246
* Everything seen is a fictional reality taking place in one or more of the survivors' minds.

* The "security system" is a dinosaur.

I don't know whether it is coincidence or not but the "numbers" on the plane are the players numbers of the yankees that have had their jerseys retired.

4-8-15-16-23-42

There are more than five Yankees who have had their numbers retired, but NOT #42:

  • 1 - Billy Martin
  • 3 - Babe Ruth
  • 4 - Lou Gehrig
  • 5 - Joe DiMaggio
  • 7 - Mickey Mantle
  • 8 - Bill Dickey, Yogi Berra
  • 9 - Roger Maris
  • 10 - Phil Rizzuto
  • 15 - Thurman Munson
  • 16 - Whitey Ford
  • 23 - Don Mattingly
  • 32 - Elston Howard
  • 37 - Casey Stengel
  • 44 - Reggie Jackson
  • 49 - Ron Guidry

#42 was Jackie Robinson whose number was retired by every team.

Personally I don't think there's anything to it, but it kind of interesting that of the Lost #'s one of the guys died of an uncurable disease and one died in a plane crash. And Jacks dad used to like the saying "thats why the Red Sox will never win the World Series". That would be freaky if Donnie Baseball showed up in the next hatch.

I've heard interviews with the creator, J Abrams or whatever, in which he says that it's not Pergutory.
