Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() For those who said they missed it, check just about any major online news site. For everyone else, it is an (occasional) tradition in Islam to offer a truce before an attack. I think a few news networks are beginning to pick up on this fact. bts |

I think you can negotiate. When he's incarcerated in a US federal prison, the guard can say "Now Osama, if you clean your toilet today, I'll bring you pudding with your dinner. I think a few news networks are beginning to pick up on this fact. Not just Islam, Brett, but good old fashioned psychological war ploy. "See... if you had just cooperated with us, you wouldn't suffer. You have no one to blame but yourself." Mind-f'in the victims.. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok, just to start an Bush & Co. lately have been claiming credit for there not having been any attacks since 9/11. Bin Laden says its just because they're still planning. If Bush deserves credit for there being no attacks, does that mean he deserves blame if there is one? |

Or course, he'll just blame the Democrats or the Republicans or his limited Presidential powers or the media or the full moon's effect on his mood for why it's not his fault. I'm not into blaming him or anyone else. If we lose lives in the US, it will be the result of determined zealots carefully planning, daringly executing and having a tremendous amount of luck. It will be a tragedy for all of us, not just the Republicans or Democrats. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm not big on blame either. Personally I think he is as much to credit for there not being an attack as to blame if there was one (which is to say some, but not much). It just seems like they have been taking alot of credit lately for there being no attacks, and seeing how most experts believe its not a question of if, but when, it seems pretty risky politically. |

Buttercup ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I would not want to be in POTUS' shoes. All you can do is everything you can do and that will still not be enough. Imagine facing your limitations and the great cost to the country for these limitations. That's gotta suck. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I wouldn't want those loafers either. You basically have to take all the credit for there not being an attack or people will think you aren;t doing anything, but then if there is one, you're the one left without a chair. Seems like the "fight them there so we don't fight them here" rhetoric could backfire though. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() well i thought the tape was a horrible case of good cop/bad cop from Bin Laden. oh swell buckle up, lets see.... its january, expect some attack in may/june. actually many people missed this intesting 9/11 fact, a few months before the attack the Taliban sent a deligation to the states to meet with our leaders to "try and create new freinships, and bring us closer together." remminds me of the japanese before pearl harbor. do remember that the tape was made in december. conviently released after we just killed a bunch of his top people. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() From a friend who has been in Afghanistan and Pakistan for two years, we will not be leaving that region for a loooooooooooong time. Though the media chooses to give Iraq most of the attention, we are still working extremely hard to get Bin Laden. I truley believe we will get him eventually. Though someone else will step up in his place, this world will be a safer place. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Just my humble opinion as a former soldier.....you can't win any war if you're not willing to get your hands dirty and keep them dirty until it's over. For the record I'm not for war on any front. But there are things worse than war: "War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse." War is an ugly, ugly thing. They decapitate one of our soldiers/citiizens whatever....we decapitate everyone we have in captivity with no due process or regard for any sort of previously agreed upon conventions and bowl their heads down Bahgdad Blvd. If you don't agree, No hard feelings. Stay home and let people who do understand handle it without reservation. The idea that this approach to war is not okay is what renders the phrase "modern warfare" an oxymoron. Take the gloves off and b!tch slap them back to the stone age or go home in a box. Period. Unfortunately you have people who have no stomach for war making decisions to go to war and then saying "well, we'll kill these people but not these people because we don't want to piss off our friends". No army in any civilization has ever won a war by being nice or politically correct or even diplomatic. War is brutality applied to achieve means that we're not reached by failed politicians. Warfare is simple. The road to war should be complex, and should be followed exhausting every possible means of diplomatic resolution. The road out is one lane, one-way. The road out of war has been clear for thousands of years: it runs right over the top of your enemy. When you stop short, when you enter a war without clear objectives, or you enter a war and try to apply rules that don't jive with the objective of total victory......you're....well....you're us at this point. |
