Comments:

Completed race but it didn't go very well. I started out too quick. I didn't see any mile markers and wasn't sure of my pace. Even though I tried slowing down I don't think I did. Hit mile 4 at 34:04 for about an 8:30 pace. Too fast for me. Slowed down to about 9 min per mile but didn't feel strong. At mile 8, felt better and thought my pace was faster but it was had actually slowed to about 9:15. Slowed down even more the next few miles, about 9:22. Last mile was really slow and then I realized I had to speed up to break 2 hr. and barely made it. My goal was to break 1:55.
What would you do differently?:

Start out slower and watch for mile markers. Wear Garmin to watch pace and know where miles are.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around, drink water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Beginning pace.

Event comments:

Nice local race but course is kind of boring. No spectators. Not a big turnout. After the first few miles I pretty much ran alone. (except for all the people passing me!!)

Great race, Bob! Under 2 hours is incredible.

So I missed you again!! I waited around the finish line and tried to listen for everyone's names - I must have been talking to someone when you crossed. In the morning I even asked the people at registration if I could find out your number but she said she didn't have it. With such a small crowd I thought maybe I'd see you!

I wish they had mile markers too - I liked at the Turkey Trot how they had the times up for you at every mile.

What's your next race? I wanted to do the Boca Town center one (for once we woudln't have to drive 1/2 hour for a race!) but it's the morning of my daughter's birthday party. So I guess my next will be the Tampa 1/2 marathon, then maybe a St. Patrick's day race somewhere, then definitely the Boca 10K in April.

Maybe I'll finally meet you guys somewhere!

I was so beat at the end of the race. Sorry I missed you again. I won't be doing too many races until April since I will be coaching for Team in Training for the FAU tri.

Sweet time on this run!  I have officially decided to bail on the Austin Half Marathon because of lack of training.... So from here on out it is du's and tri's.

You need to get a Garmin so you will know what pace you are running.  I bet with one you could tweak out that 1:55.

Good job man.

I am embarrassed to say I have a Garmin and debated on whether or not to use one. I thought it better to run based on how I was feeling but that theory was obviously wrong!! Next time I'll use it. Plan on sticking to tri's though since those long runs don't do much for me.
