Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 8 and decided to go race. Ate a waffle and a piece of bacon and some coffee. Drove to the race.

Ran back and forth to the car and put stuff away. Ran some pickups to get the HR up.

Comments:

Good run. Started in the middle and went to the front with some others. Held relaxed pace. WIndy on the back section. Made it tough to go fast.
Mile 3 was better than mile 2 so I am happy. Met up with Matt,Jen,Ocky, and Shannon before the race and after. Thanks for cheering for me guys!
You guys all did awesome! Finished hard after being passed by 2 guys at mile 2.5. I think this was a PR but am not sure?
What would you do differently?:

Run more speed workouts. I am lacking speed and muscular endurace. Som I feel good after not doing any tempo or speed workouts to this point in my training.
Post race
Warm down:

Went to find my sweats at the start line, ate some bagels, coffee, and propel. Nice T-shirt.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Speed work and Tempo runs. I know I can be faster.

Event comments:

Nice early season 5k to test the Lactate threshold. Which is 157 as of today.

Holy Cats, that's fast, Mark! Way to fly through the freezing headwinds! Sort of a shame for both of us that the hardware only went to #1 & #2 in age group.... Great run!

I love how you set a PR, but you say you haven't been doing any speed work. Crazy.

So, did that serve as your running LT test?

I actually did not set a PR.  I did that at the Littleton Stride.  Yes that will serve as my LT test, although not as high as I was thinking it should be.
