Event warmup:

Jogged with Jay and ran pickups. Interesting point that the pickup pace is much faster than anything I'll run in the race and therefore the race pace feels a little easier.

Comments:

Trying to figure out how hard I can push for full distance. My heart rate stayed very high but my body felt okay. Legs started to feel tired and burn in the last mile. I was afraid to try to run any faster for fear that I wouldn't be able to maintain it and fall way off pace. I tried to keep pace with a woman who passed me in mile 2 but fell off the wagon! Overall I'm very happy with my performance given the circumstances. This is my first race after 8 weeks of training since starting to run again after calf tear. Yeah Me!!
What would you do differently?:

More speed work, tempo runs. I have a "rematch" with the woman who I couldn't keep up with on March 11th. I have 3 weeks to get a little faster!
Post race
Warm down:

Walk, breath, water, orange juice.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Limited training time, limited speed work

Good job, Julie! It looks like you recovered well (which is an accomplishment in itself) and were able to build back up to a great race.

Avg 175?! That's pushing yourself pretty hard! I'm sure you'll catch that woman at the next one. A race finish time in under 30 minutes still looks so foreign to me. Maybe some day I'll have one.
