Comments: We had a great time! Chris and I ran together for the whole race, although I did occasionally have to remind him to stop trying to keep up with everyone who passed us. They had predicted rain, but it turned out to be a nice sunny morning, and was even a little hot by the end. The course was well-marked, with lots of volunteers, but there were a few stretches where we were squeezed into fairly narrow lanes. I felt like we were really flying for most of it, but our race time says otherwise. The time was probably slightly slowed by a bathroom break after which it became clear that we weren't going to hit the 2:30 I had in the back of my mind as a (rather wishful) goal time. It was hard, but not overly so. Part of me keeps wondering if I could have pushed more, but I sure don't remember feeling like I was holding back in the last mile. Not bad for my (our) first half marathon. What would you do differently?: This was the furthest either of us had ever run, and probably was a little faster than most of our long training runs. Overall I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, after all in August I thought my 2 mile runs were going to kill me. Post race
Warm down: Hobbled back to the hotel. What limited your ability to perform faster: Only 6 months of running under my belt and still being 30 lbs overweight. I'm hoping for a much faster half marthon time this fall. Last updated: 2006-02-14 12:00 AM
