I' m sick of cold, rainy road races, Spinerval sessions and chlorinated water. The sun is out, the grass is growing, I'm ready to race!

St George Island - Tri the Parks, 29 days and counting.

My first ever tri was Ft. Yargo last year and it was a disaster. I'm looking forward to whipping it this time, but the format is screwy this year and I'm afraid I'll lose my shoes between T3 and T4 or something.

Yeah, breaking up the bike/run is going to be a bit weird. This is one race where I'm glad I don't have clipless pedals on my bike yet. And running 1.55 miles, well, I haven't run anything that short in a while. See you there!

James

I will..I will. I still have one more year to move up to oly -- by then I will have a tri specific bike with stronger legs and mind to handle 3 hours of brutal race. I know I can finish the race safety at this point but I really need to deal with my "mind" first before committing to oly this season. Swimming sucks!

My first tri will be Ft. Yargo THIS year, so I'm curious how it was a "disaster" for you last year. Care to elaborate?

Fortunately, I still have toe clips so there are no shoes to lose for me on T2, 3, or 4.

It was a disaster because I trained for a total of maybe 3 weeks, never having done any endurance sport before, and was injured in training. I nearly drowned, stopped to barf on the bike, and walked through most of the run.

In my memory, it was a very hilly bike course, and the bike course profile on the site seams to confirm that. But, I don't think it was as bad as I remember and the fact that I finished at all, looking back at the shape I was in, means it is doable. This year, I'm gonna flatten it.
