Total Time = 52m 4s
Overall Rank = 1476/1955

Age Group Rank = 97/152
Pre-race routine:

I had hard boiled egg white, toast with peanut butter and coffee. Woke up the kids, head out about 6:15am. We stopped at Dunkin Donuts, but just for the kids. I brought the toast and peanut butter with me. Got to the WTC, parked and found a table to call 'base' for the kids. Called Max, but I couldn't seem to find the gang. Met up with my friend Kristy, and we thought out her layers. I was happy with the two layers I had on and felt i'd be okay. Drank some water.
Event warmup:

Lined up at the 10 min/mile pace area, and just did a bit of jogging in place. I did alot of waving to my babes, who went up on the bridge to watch.

Comments:

Can't wait until I step it up! I know its in me. I can feel it. I haven't been training. My run was okay. I had alittle bit of a stitch. I'm getting better at dealing with breathing into them. Base Base Base!!!

I was seeded well, no problems. I just want to be faster! LOL
What would you do differently?:

hmm....pick my feet up!! Everytime i see photos of my run, looks like i'm weighted down!

Also, I seemed to be so out of sync with the other BT'ers. I couldn't find them, didn't know what their race times were to go see them, at the finish, etc. I should have been more responsible ahead of time! Sorry guys. I have been too attentive to the forum lately. I did however get a great photo of us (Glen, JoAnne, Max, Amanda, JoAnne, and May) when I finally found you, i'll post. Thanks Glen for guiding me in. Kathy, I saw you run by with Rob!!! Woohoooo. Denise....I didn't see you!!
Post race
Warm down:

Stretching felt great. Changed into dry clothes...I LOVE the feeling of dry clothes right after the race. :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

me! me! me!

need to train!!!

base...base...base.

Event comments:

A great race and a great venue. My kids were with me, I was running, life is good.

Next time, I'll try to do a better job in hooking up with the other BT'ers.

Course: The course went through Boston's government center, then hung a left on Charles street, went around the Common and headed back to South Boston's WTC. It was pretty much flat, with a few bridges to incline and decline with. I used any of the downhill-ishes to try to lean into my run. (Something new!!)

Great race Nikki, that's a lot faster pace than you did at the race in Newport.  You are getting faster!!  It was good to see you again too!

Hi Nikki! I'm glad we were able to at least bump into each other, if even for the few moments as you were leaving. Your race looked very good, especially since you say you haven't been training! Keep it up!

PS. Your kids are SOOOOO CUTE!

I just don't understand how we missed each other!  We were lining up at the same area... 10 min pace line!  Amanda and I were looking around to try to find you.  And your pace is similar to Amanda's!

Anyways, glad you did it, and a great race!

Great run!

Just something that I did yesterday to help with my feet. I focused on my footstrike going up hill. I found that I was picking up my legs more and it helped my up the hills. It's just alittle thing, but it seemed to help me.

Hi Nikki-

This race sounded like so much fun- I wished I lived up there so I could get to meet all you guys! The pics of you and your kids are too cute! Do they like watching you race? And I totally relate to the incredible feeling of changing into dry clothes after a race. Priceless! :

Nikki....great race....I wish I had seen you race.

I'm doing a 5 mile race in Taunton in 2 weeks...on a Sunday if you are interested...I have it listed on my race schedule.

Bummer again we don't see each other...geez we live like 10 minutes apart.

Long runs on any given Saturday? I'm doing a hour bike/3 mile bike brick this Saturday if you are interested.

Nice pace...

With my new job starting on Monday, I'm optimistic that i can commit to training in a better way. Thank you for keeping up your training, you are my beacon!!
