Total Time = 2h 09m 3s
Overall Rank = 1289/1573
Age Group = 40-49
Age Group Rank = 144/160
Pre-race routine:

got enough sleep last night, slept in till 8 ish. ate tried and true oatmeal and cran juice. met up with nicole and 2 other track club babes and we had a fun carpool time.

Event warmup:

hilly wind blowing thru the city upon arrival. Nicole and I did 2 easy miles as a warm up. seeded ourselves in back back of pack as this race was really just a long slow distance run.
Run
  • 2h 09m 3s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 51s  min/mile
Comments:

worked into a consistant pace from the beginning which was the goal. Last weeks race was a race/run, this was supposed to be just a run so we were very cognizant to reign in the temptation to move faster.

hills and wind provided good resistance
Post race
Warm down:

did 3 miles after. nice and easy. totalled out at 18 for the day.

Event comments:

good organization and a safe race thru a medium sized old seaport city of new bedford, ma.

heart rate was 150-160. I didnt wear a watch upon advice . only wanted to 'feel' a zone 2 pace.
Course: course had quite a few long hills in the first 10k. good challenge for bawston.Once the hills were gone, the course wended its way along the harbor where the winds really howled in. another good challenge!! and with the mid 30's temp this provided a significant wind chill. one of our fellow gal runners got some issues of beginning hypothermia (leaning from side to side, stagger gait, mild reasoning and memory issues. she was able to recognize and recover to finish) overall a challenging course!!

Dang, I kept looking for you, thinking you might be there!  I didn't see your name in the posted pre-registration sheets, so it was a spur of the moment thing like me huh?  How did ya like that headwind!!!

You had a nice race, I'd like to do it again, I enjoyed the course!
