Pre-race routine:

It was a late start - 11:40, so we slept in, had eggos with PB and a fruit & yogurt smoothie for breakfast, then headed to St. Paul.
Event warmup:

Forgot my race number in the car, so I ran back to get it! Stretched a bit with Kelly & Autumn and my two kids. Not a great warm-up, but I don't think that was a limiter!

Comments:

I did this race with my two children - 7 and 9 years old. The 9 year old went ahead on his own, while the younger and I stayed together. We made a game of it after running the first 1/2 mile. We'd run to the next sign, then walk to the one after that and so on. She was very upbeat, even though it has been a while since she's run this distance and she was definitely tired at the end. Still, it was more than 7 minutes faster than the last time we did one together!
What would you do differently?:

Not a thing. The course seemed short to me, so that was good sign! I would like to know how I would have run it if I'd been solo - but that was not the objective for today!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around a bit, ran back to the car to get kids' coats. Lunched with fellow BTers and then headed home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was part of a mom & daughter team that sometimes ran while holding hands! :)

Event comments:

We had fun and will do this again! To me this is opening day for the spring so it was a great day!

My Garmin actually said we ran 3.26 miles, with an average of 13.01 min/mile.
Course: FLAT street course through the neighborhood surrounding the University of St. Thomas. It was an out and back, so fun to see others on their way in as we were still headed out.

Sometimes the objective is not how fast you go, but how much fun you have.

Great race to all of you! I hope I can convince my girls to run some races with me this year.
