Total Time = 32m 54s
Overall Rank = 422/649
Age Group = F 30-34
Age Group Rank = 34/72
Pre-race routine:

Drove to Autumn's house so we could carpool from there. We were plenty early for the race, so we scored a great parking spot, and the walked around a bit looking for the other BT'ers. We found Kris and her kids, and Rodger and his co-worker.
Event warmup:

Uh... trotting from the sidewalk to the start area. Very lame. :)
Run
  • 32m 54s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

My goal was to run the whole thing. Given my lack of running this winter, I figured I'd set the bar low. Secondary goal was to come in below 11 minute miles. Both goals accomplished! 10:53, 10:44, and 10:05. (*Note: these lap times are according to my Garmin; which was about 5 seconds off from my timing chip.)
What would you do differently?:

Start pushing it a bit earlier; maybe at the turnaround. Take more advil for the IT band.
Post race
Warm down:

Again, pretty lame. I didn't even stretch. Doh.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

IT band and my general slowness. Same story, different day.

Event comments:

Nice event and an absolutely gorgeous day! I was pleased with my run, and it's always great to hang out with the BT gang. We went out for burgers and malts afterward too. YUM.

Course: This is my kind of course! Gradual uphill for the first half, turn around, and downhill all the way back! Woo hoo! Although in my ITBS experience (as well as others, I've heard) going downhill actually hurts more then going up.

Well, I had good intentions for the rest of the day. I went to the Y and the guy who walked into the cycle class about two steps in front of me got the last bike. Hmph. Rats. I decided to use  the elliptical until BodyPump started an hour later, but my IT band was extremely displeased with that idea, so I just went home. I *did* ride on the trainer for a hour last night though.

The race was great fun! Thanks for suggesting it!

Running the whole thing with ITB issues is worth celebrating - PLUS, you made your time goal!  Nice work.  Hope you're not too sore in the coming days!
