Swim
Comments: My swimming is really coming together. I didn't just start out by hauling ass. Kind of eased into it so I wasn't gasping for air. This worked great. The pool had so many lane lines on the bottom of the pool that it got me confused at times...as a result I open turned about 3 or 4 of the laps. The rest were flip turns. What would you do differently?: Keep on working the speed workouts. Is 1:10/100 pace possible??? Transition 1
Comments: Decided to put on all sorts of clothing due to temps. Long sleeve T shirt, sweatshirt, socks added a few seconds to the time. What would you do differently?: Need to learn to tie up the shoes with rubber bands. Bike
Comments: There was no flat section on this course. It was a mixture of long and short hills. Why does it seem that the course is more uphill than downhill? LOL! Nearly wiped out on one corner. I'm screaming around a corner taking a nice wide approach. As I start my turn, I notice rough pavement with loose rocks/sand in my path. I miss the patch figuring I'd go over with the angle I was taking and ended up flying off the other side of the road into a little rain groove. Didn't panic...got control and slowed down a bit, and got out of the seat and pumped back up to speed. What would you do differently?: I could have placed if I had a better bike time - I gave a ton of time back here. 2 mins better on the bike and I'm on the podium. Looks like on the hilly courses, the bike is my limiter. That's either a strength thing, or an equipment thing. a) get in some weights with the legs. b) consider those race wheels Transition 2
Comments: Awesome T2. Fastest T2 in my age group. Feet out of shoes and running at the dismount line. First time I tried it - worked out awesome. Racked bike, ditched helmet. Shoes and hat and I was off. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: I had to laugh each time on the outbound loop. Not sure how many of you have heard of Adam and Eve. This company sells adult toys. Well, the run course had us running past their facility twice. LOL. The legs didn't really wake up from the bike ride until mile 1.5. At that point the damn thing is over. No calf pain. Very encouraging - especially at the pace I was holding. What would you do differently?: Could have done better, but with being off so much due to calf problems, I'm happy with this performance. Post race
Warm down: Caught my breath. After that happened, I felt pretty damn good. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bike performance / hill climbing Calf injuries Event comments: Good race. My coach was there. He won the thing. His time was something insane...like 45 something. Incredible. The family was there to cheer me on. Always love when that happens. :) Last updated: 2006-03-18 12:00 AM

Nothing special. Such a short race and only 30 mins drive from the house. Ate some yogurt.
Stay warm. Did a 2 mile bike warmup to get the legs going. I got an ice-cream headache it was so damn cold. 200y in the pool easy practicing flip turns under the ropes.
