Who's up for an Oly without the bike in McKinney? It's practically in my back yard, so I can't pass it up.

I am thinking about signing up.  Did anyone do this race last year? I think I need to bite the bullet and buy a wetsuit. Ya think?

I'm thinking about doing this one.  Need to do some racing.  I'm getting a bit anxious to race and my first race isn't scheduled until the end of May.

I just signed up for the long course.  Emailed the RD and she said she expects the water temp to be about 75.  Not too bad!

Took a long look of the run course today. Rode it 2 1/2 times on my bike. The 10K is 2 loops of the 5K course, so that should make it seem faster. 2 3.1 mile loops seem to go faster than 1 6.2 mile loop. Maybe it's just me.

The course starts by going west on Virginia. It's a long, fairly steep uphill. Flattens out at Stonebridge, where you go under the road in a tunnel (obviously didn't ride through it) and back out on Virginia to a turnaround point. Then it's back to the tunnel under Stonebridge, where you take a right. Short, medium difficulty hill, followed by a nice, long downhill. Pretty flat or downhill all the way to the stop sign at Glen Oaks. Take a left on Glen Oaks and it's an easy downhill. Just remember what goes down must come up. That long downhill is followed by a steeper uphill. Flattens out once you get to Glen Oaks Elementary School, and then you're at the stop sign at Ridge. Take a left on Ridge. Pretty flat most of the way on Ridge until you get to Dowell Middle School. Then it's a steep downhill to Stonebridge. The course takes a trail behind the YMCA, which I assume is also pretty steep downhill. From there you hit Virginia, and it's a long easy downhill back to the starting point. Short course is done, long course repeat.

Got the course map from the RD since it isn't on the website.

Looking like it could be interested, especially if some of the rain sticks around.  If you didn't see the email yet, the RD sent out the wave start times.

Starting waves are as follows (but are subject to change):
8:00 Female 750 Swim & 750/5k
8:05 Male 750 & 750/5k
8:20 Female 1500 swim & 1500/10k
8:25 Male 1500 swim & 1500/10k
WEATHER:  Forecast is 30% chance of showers, high of 74 and low of 50.  We will be there, rain or shine.
I haven't figured out what to wear yet (other than the wetsuit -- Promotion sleeveless w/ green accents).  I'm debating between my Javelin shorts or just normal swim jammers, since there's no biking.  Also, tri top or not?  Hmmm... decisions, decisions.
Ok, real question -- if it is raining, is there any advantage to wearing socks on the run?  (Other than the rule 'Nothing new on race day.')  I always thought the value of socks was that they helped pull the moisture away from the foot to prevent blisters.  If it's raining, isn't this a moot point?
Anyone picked a spot to meet yet?

There are some tennis courts that you can see from the street near the entrance, but I'm not sure where they are in relation to the beach. I guess Aaron could find a high point and wave his flag around yelling "BTers here!"

People (BTers) usually don't have a problem spotting Aaron.

I'll have a BT tatoo on my shoulder.  So, you should be able to spot me.  I hope it survives under a wetsuit (if it's wetsuit legal).  Can't wait, this is my first race this season.

I'm probably not going to wear my wetsuit since its so short of a race; I'm doing the 750.

I'm wearing tri gear for the race. Top and shorts.

I'll be standing next to the tall guy with a beard.

Andy, we know what you look like.

Anybody know where they are going to post the results?

That BT gear looked great, by the way.

Results are finally up now. http://www.nosweatracing.net/participantsagegroups.html

I thought USAT rules for Age Groups were that your age was based on how old you would be on Dec 31st? But they have me in the 20-29 AG. I'll be 30 this year. Not that I'm going to be ranked very high, but I guess for EOY ranking it might screw me up.

F*CKING BASTARDS!!

I would have gotten 3rd in my AG had the course been better marked and I didn't follow those jacka**es into that neighborhood.

(sorry, still just a little angry)

I'm with you Comet.  I don't even show up in the results.  I paid my money, I should be in the results list.  This sucks.  Especially since I would have taken 3rd in the 40-49 AG.  Unless they also forgot other 40-49'ers that were faster than me.

How odd.  The 3rd place guy in my age groups shows a faster time than the 1st place.  All I'm gonig to say is, "Next year -- chip timing."
