Hello!

It is time to ramp up the training again. If anybody has any advice on what they have found to work best it would be much appreciated. My main goals are to get the most of my workouts and maybe shed a few pounds to get closer to race weight.

Eric

This is my favorite, not exactly the cheapest. I have found the cheapest way is to mix one yourself using a whey powder and Carb powder. Not a big fan of chocolate milk, way too much sugar, you are better off drinking regular milk.

I'm a big fan of Recoverite by Hammer Nutrition.  I've been using it for about 2 years now and I love it.  It's a bit expensive compared to choc. milk but I feel like I recover faster when I use it.  It may just be mental but I'll take any legal advantage I can get in training.

Endurox R4 fruit punch flavor is my current favorite recovery drink.  Use with cold water.  YUMMY after a great workout!  =)

Water and food.

I generally don't have much need for a specific recovery food or drink except for long workouts.

I loooove Dean's TruMoo low fat chocolate milf for recovery.

Sometimes at the gym if I'm starving hungry after a long swim I'll grab an ABB Pure Pro shake.  The chocolate flavor is really good - almost like chocolate milk.

I agree totally. After my workouts, I just drink water and have a well balanced meal when it is time to eat which is usually within an hour. I have tried some of the recovery drinks and I didn't notice any difference in how I felt for my next workout. They just added calories I didn't need not to mention the $$$ some of these drinks cost. I saw no benefit and stopped using them and saved the money for something else.

for short stuff, usually just water. Anything an hour or longer, chocolate milk or coconut water. I bring a cooler with me for my soccer games or long workouts on the road or at the gym with my recovery drinks. I like both of them ice cold.

I mix a scoop of chocolate protein powder with a cup (or a little more) of 2% milk.  If my workout is away from the house, I take it with me in a cooler full of ice--ice cold chocolate milk CANNOT be beat!  Training in the Arkansas heat this summer for Pikes Peak Marathon, the thought of that ice cold deliciousness got me through the last hour.

Cytosport makes a protein with a feature called "instapro" which mixes instantly with water.  A couple of shakes in the blender bottle and your are good to go.  Give it a shot.  I use and mixes much faster than some of the other brands out there and is very tasty in cocoa bean.

chocolate muscle milk.

x2, although I'm currently undecided between getting the powder and mixing it myself vs. the pre-mixed version.  I just can't get the powder and water to mix well and taste good, even using a blender ball bottle.

Otherwise I'm a big fan of Vitargo as a recovery drink.

Banana Creme Muscle Milk in powder form mixed with Soy Milk. I don't drink dairy so I use Soy milk which makes Muscle Milk Taste/Texture a million times better then using water.

The whole point of drinking chocolate milk instead of regular milk is to get the extra sugar.

Either way, I think I'd like to try some of that chocolate milf Cool
